Dr. Ryan A. Stanton is a board-certified, fellowship-trained reconstructive and plastic surgeon in Los Angeles who focuses on cosmetic surgery. Over nearly 20 years in private practice, Dr. Stanton has treated over 6,000 patients. Though he regularly performs surgery on the body, breasts, and face, he’s a sought-after plastic surgeon who uniquely specializes in hip and buttocks enhancement with butt implants and hip implants. Dr. Stanton’s patients have nicknamed him “the Butt King.” To ensure the safest, impressive butt enhancement results, he invested years of research and calculated experimentation before presenting his butt implant innovation to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where it was awarded approval in 2016. The Stanton Anatomic buttock implant is a gluteal muscle-shaped implant, which offers a much more realistic shape than round implants. It also significantly avoids the visibility and deformity problems often seen with round implants. Dr. Stanton obtained his MD at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, Madison. After his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery, he completed a prestigious fellowship in aesthetic plastic surgery in Miami, with plastic surgeons renowned for their pioneering techniques in facelifts, breast augmentation, and body contouring. Dr. Stanton is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). RealSelf Q&A with Dr. Ryan Stanton Q: What sets your practice apart? A: I’ve been performing and perfecting the art of buttock enhancement in Los Angeles for 20 years. I even created and patented a buttock implant that I exclusively use. Recently, I’ve added hip dip surgery. This procedure is very popular among women who want to achieve a more classically feminine hourglass silhouette, including transgender patients. I custom-make every pair of cosmetic hip implants for each patient. Q: What inspired you to become a surgeon? A: When I was 11, I had a bicycle injury that required minor facial surgical repair. It was done so well that no one would know unless I told them. That was my first exposure to plastic surgery. I was so fascinated by what could be done to cosmetically repair and enhance the human body. After that realization, I wanted the knowledge and skills to perform cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Q: How did you decide to specialize in aesthetic surgery? A: It’s the only area of medicine where otherwise relatively healthy people choose to come see you. It is such an honor for them to want to come see me and put their trust and beauty in my hands. Q: What’s your practice like? A: I have a very specialized niche in cosmetic buttock and hip implants, as well as female genital labiaplasty and hoodectomy. I also perform other rare implant surgeries, such as pectoral, bicep, tricep, and calf implants. I also have vast experience in other body-contouring procedures and breast augmentation with implants. Q: How would you describe your approach to plastic surgery? A: I truly believe that maintaining internal health is just as important as external health, and I try to impart this philosophy to every patient. I’m also very outcome-driven. To achieve consistent and optimal outcomes, I always do things in a very regimented fashion. I pride myself on safety and being compulsive about producing quality work over the quantity of work.

What an incredible experience from beginning to end. I was recommended to Dr. Stanton from several different unrelated friends from the east and west coast he did surgery on and they all had an excellent experience as well and look AMAZING. From Cece, Dr Stanton's coordinator, to his nursing staff, to his anesthesiologist and of course Dr Stanton, they were all extremely knowledgable, took time to answer all of my questions and concerns and I could not be happier with my results. Even Dr Stanton's after care nurse Maud was an angel, and I would highly recommend hiring her if your out of state (or even in state) and also do the hyperbaric chamber sessions Dr. Stanton recommends. It really speeds up healing. My only regret is I didn't do the surgery sooner! I absolutely LOVE my results and my experience with Dr. Stanton and his staff! Thank you again!
I actually came back for upsizing for hip and buttock implants. I started with 420(ish) cc buttocks because that’s all I could physically fit the first time and 1.5cm hip implants and they absolutely made a good difference and actually looked better than I had imagined. I didn’t even plan to upsize (ouch my wallet) but after seeing how much I liked my body looked after it was swollen was like receiving a better version of my dream body for a free trial before the swelling went away hahah. I came back go request another 1.5inches to hips equaling 3 cm each side and I requested at least 600cc but he actually suggested I go bigger to make it work it because 2cm more projection would make a noticeable difference which would mean more than 700cc. In my mind I thought that would be really big but it wasn’t so huge. My femurs are on the longer side so I feel like it matched my body pretty well with a good size. I can still fit majority of my size 0 shorts but fill it out a lot better than before. I wanted to upload my new pic to my original preview but I can’t access that account anymore after RealSelf no longer offers the app. I am on the day of my post op (day 4) I feel like I achieved the balance I wanted. I wanted my upper body to look more dainty compared to my bottom. My shoulders are wider than the average female and my femurs and legs are longer so I wanted my butt and hips to look bigger to change that balance. I’m 5’5” and 115lbs, long arms, long legs. Fit build. I’ll reupload my before, first results and second.
Ah, the day has finally come! I drove 17 hours to get to Dr.Stanton, and had my surgery on Feb 3. The surgery itself was easy for me, and the staff took really great care of me. Upon waking up from surgery, I was in a bit of pain, but nothing unbearable. As soon as I received my pain medication, I felt much better, and headed straight to my airbnb. I made the mistake of booking an apartment on the second floor because it was very difficult to climb a flight of stairs right after surgery. I would not have been able to do it if it wasn't for my husband. As soon as I got into the airbnb, I slept for most of the day. When I was awake and moving around, I could only move around hunched over. This was because when standing up straight, I would get very dizzy and it would hurt my glutes. Im surprised no one on here recommended getting a walker as that would have been a life saver for me! Day 2 was pretty easy, but both Dr.Stanton and Cece warned me that day 3 or 4 may be the trickiest as thats when the anesthesia is fully worn off. They were correct, as today is day 3 and I was in the worse pain so far. I've been conservative with my OXY as I know the doctor does not offer refills, but this morning I had to take 2 pills. Overall though, recovery hasn't been too difficult and I will continue to keep you all updated!
Dr. Stanton performed hip and butt augmentation surgery on me. The results are spectacular—they’ve changed the shape of my body, the way clothes fit me, and the way that I am perceived! This isn’t why I did it, but I’ve caught men craning their necks to stare at my butt—like, literally turning around and bending over to get a better view! Lol. Fair warning, the recovery was challenging, especially in the first few days. Don’t skimp on recovery pillows and devices. I recommend a wedge pillow to keep your legs up and take pressure off your butt. Also, I had to learn how to sleep on my stomach because the alternatives were just too painful. After a week or so, things got closer to normal, though I wasn’t sitting down too much for probably a month. Now, two months later, I’m almost fully recovered. I wear leggings almost EVERY day because it feels good and I just love how they make my butt look! Five stars on this procedure and the results I got from Dr. Stanton.
I am Post Op day 1 Why: I chose of getting both my hips and butt together because I really want that hourglass shape. Plus my shoulders are more on the broad side and my breasts are done so I don't like looking top heavy/wide. I honestly tried to give every other option a chance before resorting to butt implants. I paid $100 in Beverly Hills for a consultation for a BBL but I am extremely active and fit and within 10 minutes, I had to get turned down because I had no fat to harvest. For a BBL you need a lot of good fat to harvest because half of the cells die and you are never guaranteed what your results will look like and also the healing process is so incredibly long and you're so limited on what you can do. I have been working out for over 10 years religiously and my butt is cute and perky, but I want fullness and as someone who likes to maintain a long and slender figure, gaining the weight to acquire that will be very counterproductive for that. That BBL doctor recommended a butt implant doctor at the end of the appointment where he had to turn me down, but I instantly refused. This was probably about seven years ago. In September, I decided to try sculptra and I spent $3400 for 12 syringes that absolutely made no difference and my after photo actually looked worse and I got a refund. I pretty much almost gave up after getting turned down for the BBL and said that it just wasn't meant to be for me and I consider my last resort looking online for a butt implant doctor and seeing what was out there. Dr. Stanton was one of the few doctors I saw and it was absolutely a no-brainer that I wanted to choose him to be my doctor. With his many decades of experience and it being his specialty and many reviews of happy patients and informational content, the decision was very easy to make, and he definitely changed my mind about how I felt about it before. Before, the thought of it really turned me off. Dr. Stanton's reviews, results, and informational posts on his website and social media page completely changed that. He has lots of posts and videos that explain all the questions and concerns that you could possibly have and the way he explains. It is very digestible to make you feel confident that he is the right choice for you. What makes him really stand out from the rest is that his implant is his own patented anatomical shaped implant that is the shape of your natural glutes so they are a natural shape, not the overly projected round shape like some places may offer and give off a distasteful and unnatural result. He is incredibly experienced in his specialized procedure and his office and staff are very professional and kind and make you feel very well taken care of and his before and after photos really stuck out to me and show how great he is compared to other doctors that I've seen. What more can you ask for? When consulting with his patient manager and getting on the call with him, I would definitely try to figure out what questions you are going to ask him to make the phone call easy for the both of you and so you don't have to call again if you need to. I can tell this doctor is extremely busy and and highly sought out. I didn't really have many questions for him because he's already very straightforward and I had already seen a lot of his videos and posts where he touches base on a lot of things I was wondering about on his official Instagram page. I really recommend checking it out. I'm actually really glad that trying to get a BBL did not work out for me because now I seriously think that this is the much better option for me and the aesthetic that I want for myself and with my fit lifestyle. I guess it all worked out in the end for me haha. Surgery day: When I went to the office for my surgery for the first time, the staff was so kind and nurturing, and informed me of everything I needed when we were getting introduced and prevented me from getting nervous or uneasy about the whole thing. I was a little nervous about meeting Dr. Stanton, but he was really great and he had really good eye contact and was extremely professional and very valid with all his answers and responses to what I had to say or ask made me feel at ease. I had a nice and comforting conversation before with the anesthesiologist and nurse before I got put to sleep. I went in thinking that postop would be a cakewalk (haha) but I was actually in more pain than I had anticipated but my expectations were a little bit unrealistic because I was a bit too excited lol. I am not someone who usually gets nauseous or dizzy but today when I woke up and stood up, I actually was pretty dizzy and nauseous. But keep in mind I did get two procedures in one session. I was in a lot more pain and felt a lot more soreness than I had expected, but the majority of the pain was in my buttocks. It was really hard to walk and move and even just existing hurt. My nurse was so sweet and gentle and helped clothe me and gave me apple juice to help me with getting up better. When I got home, I instantly wanted to take my painkiller and sleep more on my stomach, and the painkiller definitely helped. When I woke up, it was easier to walk and get up and from what I could see in the mirror even with the hip bandages and pads, I liked what I was saying. I cannot take the hip band until I shower after tomorrow, but I'm trying to be good and follow instructions so I can recover properly. I was able to eat dinner, but my appetite was not the same. I would suggest you absolutely be on top of having your medication ready for you the day of your surgery so you don't have any complications with pain or how you feel when you need it the most. Tomorrow I go in for the hyperbaric oxygen chamber to speed up my healing process! So far, I am very pleased with my experience. Updated on 19 Nov 2024: Do notttttttt waste your money on Sculptra. Its not even a temporary difference. Youre just donating money, time and soreness. I went to naked MD and do NOT recommend. The implant are guaranteed lasting results and size. Updated on 20 Nov 2024: This morning was the least amount of pain I had in my lower body when I woke up and took 1 painkiller and toughed it out for the rest of the day. My mom had always taught me to only take them if i absolutely could not stand the pain, so I try not to take it if I can bare it enough. I still took my anti inflammation and antibiotics though of course. I had an 11am appointment for my 2nd hyperbaric oxygen chamber session and was driven to Beverly Hills laying on my belly lol. I feel very fortunate to be close enough to drive or be driven because Dr. Stanton is so highly sought out, many people travel internationally to be one of his patients! So awesome. The session went well. You’re given water, your phone, a walkie talkie to reach out to the front desk for anything and earplugs if needed. I was able to shower today after the 48 hours instructed not to. I got to see what it looked like underneath the padding and the bandages. Of course, since they’re fresh and so new and tight, the buttocks are flatter before they begin to settle through time like breast implants do (6 months) I’m aware that they’re very swollen around there and the hips but I hope I still have amazing curves when healed :) I’m bruised and tender now and I justttttt got my period today so my entire lower body is a warzone of discomfort. I got to try on some gym shorts I’ve always wanted to be able to wear but didn’t have the booty for it. I took some photos from a higher angle and straight angle to see some differences. Updated on 20 Nov 2024: Height: 5’4.5” weight: usually around 115ish Fit/lean (I think) Leggy, long femurs. Broader shoulders compared to the average female I believe. 400cc breasts Was able to fit in 420cc Stanton anatomical butt implants which I was happy about because I was scared my body might cause some resistance :D yay. Hips are 1.5inch thick customized to my body type and I believe 8 inches long and 4 inches wide. Updated on 21 Nov 2024: These were my first 4 angle shots I sent in before my consult. I can’t believe 420cc made the difference it made. I didn’t have super high expectations from looking at the 400cc highlights or posts and comparisons on the Instagram page. I’m so delightfully surprised.
I am 14 months post op and I am beyond happy with my results. I am 5’4 125 lbs 28 years old. When it comes to your body, you really want to make the smart investment and choose the best. The shape that Dr Stanton gave my butt and the volume is so tasteful and perfect. My butt was very very flat with no muscle. Now it has the perfect projection and shape and looks REAL ! It looks like I have a perfect bubble butt and not overdone. I am an active 28 year old female who does yoga, Pilates, bike riding and running (5 miles 2-3 times a week). The first couple months took a little getting used to the feeling, as did my breast implants by another Dr. This is normal because you are still healing. By month 6 I could sprint cartwheel and its my body I never feel or notice the implants. My butt is also soft and not hard and my scar is healing perfect and is skin colored now. It is obviously still important to be very careful and always keep in consideration safety. You do not want to overdo it or do anything extreme; at least I would not in any case. I do everything I could before no problem and the surgery has totally changed my confidence and my life! I debated for many years and it is soooo worth it. I was nervous and didn’t want to choose the wrong Dr! Dr Stanton was very upfront about all of my questions and listens and truly is an expert in his profession. I felt he really cares and I was not rushed for all of my questions or that I pressured to book in any way. If an office or Dr is pushy or tells you what you want to hear RUN. Dr Stanton’s work talks for itself. He takes his time and answers everything in extreme detail. For reference I consulted with 6 different doctors in person and over a dozen on the phone for both bbl/ and implants. As someone who is naturally more slim a bbl will not work for me, I want something permanent that will not go away. I also do not like the fake or obvious overdone look. There was nothing as good so Dr Stanton invented & patented his own implants and has several patents! Helloooo! The staff is all so kind and accommodating and it is truly 10/10 the best possible experience. I recommend the hyperbaric chamber 100% it sped up healing a lot for me as well. Thank you to Dr Stanton & his entire staff for a wonderful surgery experience from beginning to end to a new beginning!
After receiving hip implants and buttock replacement from Dr. Stanton, I chose to wait a few months before sharing my honest review. I am thrilled with the results and recovery has been tough, but with each passing day, I am more confident in my decision. I highly recommend Dr. Stanton.
I read so many reviews before deciding to get mine done that I felt I should write one for every woman considering this too! I'll try to be as detailed oriented a posible. I'm 5.1 32go 118 lbs. and the doctor was able to fit 500cc, yay! I was afraid I wouldn't be able to fit those considering my size but it fit!! The day of surgery went great. I had nurse Neal helping me out and welcoming me to the facility. I signed some paperwork and then she took me to a room where she explained everything on how the surgery would go. Then I met the doctor and he examined me, he was super nice and with a clam and professional demeanor. And finally I met the anesthesiologist and she was great too. Post day 1 After surgery I woke up feeling a little disoriented but completely ok! And I did the chamber right there after surgery. They give you a walkie talkie to bring inside the chamber in case you need to talk to the nurse. When I got home I was feeling a lot of pain so I took the pain killer and the muscle relaxer and felt way better! Post day 2 Today I woke up feeling good. Pain is 4/10 (of course I’ve kept taking the pain medication) today I’m able to go to the bathroom alone and walk alone, without the help of my boyfriend. So far I would say the worst day was the first day when I got home and the meds they gave me at the facility faded and I had to wait for the meds I took here to kick in. Later today I’ll get another session of the hyperbaric chamber, yay! I’ll post pictures when I can take some! Sorry but right now I don’t feel like standing up and take pictures but I will in my next update. All I can say is that the doctor is FANTASTIC! Everyone there is so nice and professional, they made me feel very safe too. I know I’m in good hands! The experience overall is not as bad as I thought. I know a different people have different experiences but mind so far it's been completely manageable. Oh! And my butt doesn't feel at all like a rock. It feels almost normal and skuishy!
I couldn’t be happier with my experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff who made me feel completely at ease. Doctor Stanton was absolutely amazing, taking the time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly explain the procedures for both my breast implants and liposuction. Their attention to detail and professionalism were top-notch. The results are even better than I imagined, and I feel so much more confident in my own skin. I highly recommend Dr Stanton to anyone considering these procedures!
I had such a great experience with Dr. Stanton and his staff. I absolutely love my results, if you are considering glute implants look no further, I had 2 bbls prior to my implants and wish I just went the implant route first. I am on the thinner side and had to gain lots of weight for the bbl and both transfers melted off due to my active lifestyle. I’m 1 year post glute implants and love my results, the downtime for me was only 2 weeks and I was back on my full work out routine within 2 months. The implants feel normal and have settled perfectly. If you are considering this procedure I highly recommend Dr.Stanton due to his technique and custom implant he uses. I couldn’t be happier ! Thank you
Allow me to answer your question as best i can based upon your photos. However, please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made. It appears as though your left buttock cheek is significantly larger than the right side. There are currently only two FDA approved surgical options for augmenting the buttock/hip area: 1) Buttock and cosmetic Hip Implants (which are soft semi-solid silicone rubber implants that cannot rupture &/or leak) and 2)Brazilian Butt Lift (aka BBL) - which utilizes the patients own fat from liposuction then transfers this fat into the buttock. On the other hand, BBL using fillers such as hyaluronic acids, Sculptra, etc… is a dangerous, guaranteed waste of money, and is NOT FDA approved. So what it comes down to, like any surgery, is proper patient selection and long-term results. Indeed, you do not appear to even be a candidate for BBL. Implants provide the only guarantee for a sustained permanent result and tend to be ideal for perking up not only lean or deflated buttocks but also providing substantial projection & volume to any butt, which is what every single patient wants. Based upon your photos, a Stanton Anatomic®️ shape buttock implant may serve you best. Please read on for some additional useful general information: Beware, if a surgeon asks you to purposely gain weight (i.e. fat) before BBL, know that the fat you lose first as you get back to your baseline weight after surgery is that very same fat that was transferred into your buttock, hence your new buttock shrinks first, the fastest, and the most...so please do not fall victim to this recommendation. Even those patients that had adequate amounts of fat pre-operatively, still end up seeking buttock implants after a year or so because most of the fat transferred melted away leaving them with minimal result. Fillers such as Sculptra are cost prohibitive, provided enough volume is injected (i.e. at least 400 cc of active ingredient costing over $300,000) and last only 12 - 18 months. Additionally, any physician promoting “biostimulators” for buttock enhancement is just a joke, and any board certified plastic surgeon promoting such, should not be trusted with your butt. Finally, note that an extremely few number of board certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock or hip implants, so you may need to travel far and away from home to find this particular surgeon. Getting it done right the first time around is not only the best chance for success, but also will save you from a lot of headaches and money in the future. Glad to help.
Allow me to answer your question as best i can based upon your photos. However, please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made. You are in good company with many others who had high hopes for BBL but instead received disappointing results (lumpiness, unevenness, lack of projection in the central and/or lower buttock, insignificant hip augmentation, post-deflation sagging, fatty necrotic cyst or scar tissue, etc.) as most of the fat melts away. It is not quite as much the quality of the doctor nor liposuction technique but rather the quality of the procedure that is a large part of the problem. Thus, going back for additional rounds of BBL most often produces the same disappointing results but at another financial loss. Important note, do not fall victim to anyone recommending fillers, such as Sculptra and hyaluronic acids, for enhancement or augmentation of the buttock/hips because they are a rip-off and guaranteed to fail, period! Buttock/hip implants, however, provide a more reliable, predictable, relatively safe, and permanent result, especially for adding projection to the hips and central buttock, and often help smoothing out lumpiness. Occasionally a lower buttock tuck may be advantageous for lower buttock fold asymmetries and/or sagging. When considering buttock implants make sure that the surgeon is going to be placing the implants within gluteus muscles , (a.k.a. “intramuscular pocket”), and that they are using anatomically correct, oval-shaped implants, such as Stanton Anatomic ®️ implants. Please keep in mind that an extremely few number of board-certified plastic surgeons specialize in these buttock implants so be sure to consult with one that is reputable and experienced. Unfortunately you may have to travel long and far away from home to find this particular surgeon. Glad to help.
Allow me to answer your question as best i can based upon your photos. However, please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made. I am sorry to hear of your misfortune. The traumatic pressure from the fall, and +/- the hematoma/bruise caused some permanent fat atrophy and fibrous scar tissue between the skin and muscle. Hence, this is unlikely to get much better from here. Fat transfer can be attempted first but if this fails, implants may be your only final but permanent option. Please note, because an extremely few number of board certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock and hip implants, you may have to travel away from your local area to seek consultation with this particular type of surgeon. Getting it done right the first time around is not only the best chance for success, but also will save you from a lot of headaches and money in the future. Glad to help.
Allow me to answer your question as best i can based upon your photo. However, please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made. Buttock “sagging” is usually a combination of loss of volume or deflation (after weight loss, liposuction, or post-BBL) and/or the effect of aging and gravity. Unfortunately, neither fat transfer or minimally invasive procedures such as J-plasma, radiofrequency, ultrasound, or lasers work effectively in this area. So, I personally first treat patients like you by restoring volume to the buttock with a buttock implant. This will create a more desirable smooth and rounded perky buttock profile. If not adding volume with an implant, the buttock will most certainly always appear more flat with just a buttock lift from above. A lower buttock tuck is usually then performed at six months following implants. Coincidentally, a lower buttock tuck also doubles as a thigh lift. In this sequence, the implants have fully settled into final position so that any remaining loose skin can be most accurately identified and removed with the lower buttock tuck. Please note, because an extremely few number of board certified plastic surgeons specialize in buttock implants, you may have to travel away from your local area to seek consultation with this particular type of surgeon. Getting it done right the first time around is not only the best chance for success, but also will save you from a lot of headaches and money in the future. Glad to help.
Allow me to answer your question as best i can based upon your sungle photo. However, please keep in mind that an in-person, or at least a virtual, consultation with physical exam is first necessary before any legitimate evaluation or final surgical recommendations can be made. Unfortunately, the double crease banana roll deformity you are experiencing is quite common after liposuction in that area. Also unfortunately, a Miami thong lift will most certainly NOT resolve the problem nor will fat transfer to this area. A lower buttock tuck is the only reliable way to treat this problem. Please note, because an extremely few number of board certified plastic surgeons have experience with lower buttock tucks, you may have to travel away from your local area to seek consultation with this particular type of surgeon. Getting it done right the first time around is not only the best chance for success, but also will save you from a lot of headaches and money in the future. Glad to help.
