Not Sure. I will update this review as the months go by. The star rating may be temporary. But in the mean time, I can only assess what has happened. The procedure may be a success or a failure. I don't know, but here I go. I went to the Silicon Valley Hair Institute to repair a previous procedure. The original Dr. comped the fee. I was examined by the Dr. and his staff. They assured me I was good to go, and that I would not have any issues other than the temporary shedding of the transplanted hairs. I also had my thyroid function checked as well as my blood for STD's, and I spoke to a dermatologist to see if I was fit for the procedure. My lab results were normal. I am healthy. Dr. Canales also checked my hair with a microscope and determined that I was a great candidate. Here are I am 2 months later, and large amounts of native hairs as well as the hairs from the previous transplant have fallen out. I am currently on Propecia, Rogaine, triamcinolone, and biotin and I was just prescribed oral minoxidil. Very nice guy, but I have received conflicting information, so I am not sure what to say. I am not sure what the failure rates for these procedure are, but I am certain that they are 100% if they are done correctly. At this point, I am just praying that the results come out as promised. Please let me know if you have any feedback. Thanks
The hairline design needs to be age appropriate and also look natural as you mature in your years (in for 40s, 50s, 60s, etc). In general, the hairline should be positioned at least a finger breadth (approx 2cm) above the highest frown line on your forehead. This is where aesthetic judgment and dialogue with your surgeon needs to happen to make sure you can visualize what you may look like. Detailed macro and micro irregularities along the hairline then make the hair line look natural.
To estimate the number of grafts needed, we perform a high definition hair dermoscopy to better visualize the hair that surrounds the bald spot to see whether that area is thinning too (miniaturizing ). If so, then the graft count would reflect providing density in the area that is also continuing to thin. In general, 1250 to 1500 grafts would be needed to achieve a dense result for an area similar to your bald spot.
It is not uncommon to experience hair shedding after initiating minoxidil. Minoxidil may accelerate hair entering the telogen phase to shed sooner (although they were going to shed irregardless of the medicine). New hair will growth in the oncoming months after starting minoxidil. Other caveats about minoxidil is that it can irritate the scalp causing itchiness due to a contact dermatitis. It is best to use the medication under the guidance of a hair loss expert to make sure you are avoiding side-effects and that the efficacy of the medical treatment can be verified.
After 6 weeks post FUE surgery, the wounds and grafts have healed. It is generally safe to use camouflage products (e.g. hair fibers, etc .). Make sure you are not allergic to the product your choose as it can cause a contact dermatitis and may affect your skin and hair.
It is common for the implanted hair shafts to shed several seeks after surgery. The J hairs occur because of trauma to the hair shaft during forcep implantation. In general the other aspects of the hair follicle may not be damaged and a new hair is expected to grow
