How Often is a mini-Tummy Tuck Recommended for Stretch Marks post-baby?

Is a full tummy tuck ideally used on patients who have recently lost a lot more weight rather than a patient who gains and looses weight from a typical pregnancy. Is a mini tummy tuck sufficient for pregnancy stretch marks and loose skin?

A: Mini tummy tucks

In my experience, min tummy tucks are rarely performed because most patients actually need more skin removal than is achieved with a mini.  Your best  option is to see your PS and discuss the options with him/her.  Making the determination of a mini or full tummy tuck is best done by your PS after assesing your goals and amount of tissue excess.

Mini Tummy Tuck Swelling: Will it go Down?

Hello I had a tummy tuck done on May 16th. The first timeI took off the compression garment was 5 days post-op. I was really disappointed about the results but my nurse told me do not worry it is all very swollen. It has been 2 weeks now and it looks exactly the same if not a little worse. Should I be expecting to get the flat stomach my doctor promised. me or am I just worrying to early at this stage? My stomach looked smaller before the operation now it looks even bigger compared to pre-op.

A: mini tummy tuck

At this early stage of recovery it is very difficult to assess what you final outcome will be.  However, know that it is quite common for early swelling to occur and often make your contour worse in the beginning. As the swelling goes down the new shape presents itself.  Discuss this concern with your PS.

Standard vs Mini Tummy Tuck? Worried About Scarring and Stretch Marks.

Im a 20 year old mother of one (14months old). Im still a somewhat petite girl, 5'5" 125 lbs. My main issue with my stomach is the stretch marks, so Id like to lose as many of those as possible. I am, however, worried about a large scar or a really low, flat belly button.

A: Getting Rid of Stretch Marks

It is hard to see the location of your stretch marks from the photo you submitted.  Generally speaking to get rid of stretch marks you will need a full abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).  A mini-tummy tuck is really only good for reducing the fat thickness and removing a small amount of skin.
