Mini Tummy Tuck Less Painful Than a Full Tummy Tuck?

Is a mini tummy tuck less painful than a full, regular tummy tuck?

A: Is a mini tummy tuck less painful than a full tummy tuck?

Yes, a mini TT is less painful than a full TT. A mini tummy tuck has a shorter scar, there is less undermining, and recovery time is much less.

What is a Mini Tummy Tuck?

How is it different than a regular tummy tuck?

A: What is a mini tummy tuck?

A mini tummy tuck removes less skin than a fully tummy tuck and does not reposition the umbilicus. The scar is shorter and the recovery time is shorter. It is the perfect surgery for a woman whose excess skin is limited to the lower abdomen. If there are significant issues in the mid or upper abdomen than a mini tummy tuck would not be adequate.

How Long Does It Take for Muscles to Heal After a Mini Tummy Tuck?

Are muscle spasms common after tummy tucks?

A: Muscle healing after a tummy tuck

The standard answer for your question is six weeks. It takes that amount of time for the muscles to heal adequately so that you are no longer relying on the sutures to hold them in place. Any strenuous exercise or heavy lifting prior to six weeks risks tearing out the muscle stitches causing bleeding and bulging. Muscle spasms are not unusual after a tummy tuck but are normally short-lived. If they are a problem, talk to your surgeon about a trial of muscle relaxants.
