I've Recently Had my First Tattoo Removal Laser Session Done and I Have Seen VERY Minimal Results, Is that Typical?

A: Black tattoo ink is hard to treat

Black tattoo ink is very hard to treat and you are looking at many, many treatments to see results. Laser tattoo removal in general is very difficult and your tattoo will never be completely gone with any of the lasers on the market today. It's unfortunate, I know, but lasers have a long way to go in treating tattoos. One treatment will not yield noticeable results, and I'm sorry for that, but I'd say you are looking at a minimum of 8 treatments to see any lightening and blurring of the image. You're in for the long haul, but your results, are sadly, very normal.

Does Tattoo Removal Work in Patches? (photo)

I have a large fresh black tattoo thats i'm looking to get removed and am aware that this will be a long process. My laser operator told me during consultation that it is likely that the tattoo will not fade with uniformity. In other words, after multiple sessions certain areas will have reached near completion whilst other areas would such much less promising results and may never respond completely. Is this an accurate summation of the process in your professional experience? Many thanks

A: Black tattoo ink is hard to treat

Your consultation is right on. Some of it will fade, some of it will probably never fade. Usually what happens with black ink is a blurring of the image and some lightening. It's unfortunate, but your consultation was right on in my opinion.

Would Laser Removal Treatments Completely Remove my Full Back Peice Tattoo?

I am beginning to really hate my tattoo and desperately want to remove it. It bothers me everyday and I can't live with it any more. Originally I had some flowers on my back which was not professional so I had it covered, which ended up becoming a tattoo on my entire back. I want my body back to the way it was when I came into this world, can laser treatments completely remove my tattoo?

A: Laser tattoo removal won't work!

Unfortunately laser tattoo machines haven't come far enough along, yet. They are not magic. Having treatments - in your case - probably 30 treatments would result in some of it coming off, at best, and more of it becoming smudgy and discolored. A tattoo the size you described is unfortunately something you are going to be stuck with, unless lasers come a long way.
