I have been through a lot of stress and lack of sleep during the last 6 months. I am 46, my skin looks dull/grey, lacking healthy glow and has sagged visibly. Also my eyes have dark circles and have lost roundness of my face. I am having light chemical peels done at a beautician after my doctor's recommendation. So far I have had 2 but still not happy with the result. Will my skin go back to looking healthy and more importantly a bit tighter after 5-6 peels? What else can I do?
I want to commend you for providing photos which greatly improve the quality of the replies you will receive. There is a marginal benefit to light peels done at the beautician's office. Certainly, it does make folks happy that they are doing something for themselves. But to improve the results, you need to get deeper. Medium to deep chemical or laser peels would probably help you to achieve the results you are seeking. Good luck!
I had Obagi blue peel done almost 3 months ago. My face is hypopigmented and red, and I have dark spot a never had before. My doctor told me to use a tretinoin cream but it didn't not help. I had six coats of TCA 35% on my forhead and 4 on my cheeks. What else can I do? Please help.
Your title refers to hyperpigmentation while your comment refers to hypopigmentation and a dark spot. IMHO, post peel hyperpigmentation ALWAYS responds to appropriate treatment as is likely true of the red areas too. Unfortunately, if there is TRULY lasting hypopigmentation, there really is no effective treatment.
my mother had very good, clear skin. she had medium chemical face peel 2-2.5 years ago and she developed hyperpigmentation very soon after the procedure. Since then she has been using Obagi Creams, Sunblock and has been getting monthly laser treatments. but the pigmentation never fully vanishes and returns after exposure to sun or due to a pimple. is there any definite cure for this? will she be able to go out in the sun without pigmentation re-surfacing? can her skin go back to the way it was?
In my opinion, the Hyperpigmentation after a chemical peel is NOT permanent. Unfortunately, your mother may have a tendency toward this, as noted by one of my colleagues. This may have nothing to do with the peel (and I recognize that neither I or anyone else may be able to convince you of this) and that she just has to be EXTREMELY careful with using sunscreen on these areas and avoiding excess sun exposure.
