I am planning on having fat grafting in a few months. And my ultimate goal is for the best fat retention/survival possible. But I am toying with the idea of having an endoscopic cheek life. Would it be ok to have this done at the same time? Or would it be better to wait. Would having additional surgery at the time of the fat transfer compromise the potential fat survival?
Facelifts can be done in conjunction with fat graft procedures, and this is usually a winning combination. The blood supply to the face is excellent, so fat cells have a good chance of survival if the procedure is done correctly. In the hands of a capable plastic surgeon, the facelift procedure should not impair the necessary blood supply. This is especially true with a minimally invasive procedure such as an endoscopic lift. Because lifts do not correct the loss of tissue volume that comes with aging, I often perform some form of fat grafting on my cheek or facelift patients and find that it works very well.
I'm 35 and am interested in addressing my mid/lower cheek and jawline/mouth areas for droopiness. I've had a downturned mouth with slight marionette lines my whole life. Now that I'm older, I now have deep under eye hollows and more sagging in the mid-face cheek/jawline areas.
I like the results I see from the liquid face lift photos, but are there any other procedures that would be a more permanent solution such as a mini-lift or cheek lift?
There is really no such thing as a permanent solution when it comes to facial aging. Maintenance of a youthful, yet natural appearance is an ongoing process. Many individuals in their mid to late thirties begin to address issues such as facial hollows and lines by using fillers, such as Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm. These products not only help replace lost volume, but also serve to stimulate collagen production as well.
At the same time, the skin surface should not be neglected. It is helpful to complement the injectable treatments with aggressive skin care, including retinoids, anti-oxidants, growth factors, and possible fractional CO2 laser treatments if sun-damage is problematic. Depending on the individual and their genetics and environmental exposure, it may be worth considering a mini-facelift and fat grafting to rejuvinate the jawline and cheeks. However, with the newer more effective office-based treatments, most of my patients are able to hold off on surgical intervention until at least their 40's.
Even after face lift, most patients want to maintain their results with aggressive skin care and periodic interventions.
