Can large submalar and premaxillary implants really be removed in the office under local? When is the best time to remove? One month post op. Is the swelling and recovery like when they go in when they are removed? Can a balloon face for at least one week and lip numbness be expected.
Midface implants can be removed under local anesthesia if need be. However, one month is certainly too early to decide what final result of implant placement. If the results are unsatisfactory after several months and complete resolution of swelling, then the implants can be removed in the office through the original incision. This will result in far less trauma/ swelling after the procedure which will allow you to return to your activities quickly.
Thank you for your question.

When I was younger I had an 80% overbite. After 4 years of braces my teeth/overbite isn't as pronounced. But it isn't as good as I want it to be. Especially my profile- I have a weak chin & my upper and lower teeth don't connect properly, so my mouth is partially open. I'm more interested in getting a stronger jawline & chin, but would it be possible to sharpen/fix my profile AND fix my bite in one surgery? Or would a chin implant be better? What is the approximate cost of these procedures?
A chin implant will improve your profile but will not fix your bite. I agree with Dr. Beraka that jaw surgery is a major procedure. However, this is what is necessary to both fix your bite and improve the appearance of your chin. These procedures are typically performed by Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons. The advantage of undergoing the larger jaw procedure, as opposed to just a chin implant, is that this should repair your occlusion (bite) and this will lead to better long term dental health as well as improving your appearance. However, you should balance this against the increased downtime following the procedure.

I like the size of my chin as in I dont want it any larger, I would just like to have a longer chin therefore appearing as if i have a longer jawline. Is this possible?
Consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon for discussion of chin implant options. It's difficult to assess exactly what you desire without photos and/ or seeing you in the office in person. When choosing a plastic surgeon, ensure that they have alot of experience with facial implants, show you their own before and after photos and, above all, put you at ease.
