I feel like I need to raise my eyebrows constantly to get rid of the feelind that there is something on my eyelid, especially at the end of the day. I am considering surgery, however not sure about how long it would last and if I should wait a little to get older and get it done then. I am 30 years old, is it too young?
Answer: In the photo, you have a mild upper eyelid ptosis and eyelash ptosis. A small anterior ptosis repair with an anchor blepharoplasty would open the eye and support the upper eyelid lashes. Only a tiny amount of skin should be removed. Less is more. It is absolutely critically that should you decide to go with eyelid surgery, you understand what a particular surgeon is offering. Good eyelid surgeons are where you find then.

Answer: Can I have upper eyelid surgery at age 30? When it come to needing or wanting a facial procedure, age is only a number. There are people who have a full upper lid even at age twenty. It doesn’t mean that they should have surgery, but if ten years later, the skin relaxes and now they are very uncomfortable with the presence of the fold or the heaviness of it, may be they can have the excess skin removed. Often times raising the brows with appropriate use of Botox or Dysport can solve the problem. I have done many upper eyelids in patients in their early thirties who are very happy with the results. One needs to be more conservation with the surgery in younger patients, but the results can be very rewarding.

Answer: Eyelid surgery: is it time? There is no objective answer as to if you should have upper blepharoplasty. Some points that may help you decide are: What did your upper eyelids look like 5-10 years ago and was there more eyelid platform showing? What is the look you wish to acheive? It's certainly within the realm of possibility to have this done at your age, as I have done with patients many times before. But it's a personal decision and there are many factors that influence that decision including the discussion that takes place at an in-person consultation with a cosmetic eyelid specialist. You should also be aware of more up-to-date approaches that preserve eyelid fat/volume. If you do decide to undergo upper blepharoplasty the results should be long-lasting (at least 10 years).

Answer: Eyelid surgery when young Anatomy is anatomy, regardless of age. Some patients have inherited anatomy that lends itself to early eyelid aging. Most likely your parents had similar problems at a young age. While cosmetic surgery is the big step, fortunately eyelid surgery is pretty minor compared to other procedures. I would suggest an upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) for a long lasting correction, rather than dabbling in non-surgical solutions for the next 10-15 years.

Answer: Considering Eyelid Treatment Thank you for your question and for sharing photographs. If you're looking for a more permanent solution to your concern, then cosmetic surgery (ie: upper eyelid blepharoplasty) is the best option. Patients who consider this type of surgery generally start to do so around their mid to late thirties (and beyond). Many younger patients consider trying non-invasive techniques first before surgery. Botox would be the best non-invasive technique for this concern. Botox can help the eyes appear more open and by doing so may reduce the amount of fullness you see in your upper eyelids. Botox treatments require minimal to no downtime and the effects of treatment start to wear off within three to four months. Undergoing any cosmetic procedure requires careful attention to detail and consideration for different options. Consider obtaining several opinions before moving forward with any given procedure. And always trust your face to a board-certified facial plastic surgeon or board-certified plastic surgeon.
