Dr. Portuese did an excellent job for my revision rhinoplasty. My original rhinoplasty left me with a curved nose and asymmetric nostrils. Dr. Portuese was able to provide realistic expectations and great results. I am very happy!
Dr. Portuese is an exceptionally talented artist in facial plastic surgery, and is an equally compassionate individual. Before deciding on Dr. Portuese to perform my septo-rhinoplasty, I had consultations with renown facial plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills, Dallas, and New York over the course of several years. To say I was a cautious potential patient was an understatement. I chose Dr. Portuese not only because of his decades of experience, reputation as a skilled surgeon in functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty, and beautiful before and after photos, but also because of his warm and caring demeanor. You see, as a child my nose experienced a great deal of trauma - both literally and figuratively. I had to put a great deal of trust in Dr. Portuese. To put it simply, he made me feel whole again. It amazes me that a 60 minute procedure has the ability to be so transformative. Although there is much healing to do, the initial results are absolutely beautiful. My heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Portuese and his entire staff for such a positive experience.
I had been waiting my whole life for a rhinoplasty and finally got one in 2019. Unfortunately even after what I felt was extensive research & finding a doctor in Newport beach, orange county that I loved the before and after pics from his other clients, I had been unhappy with results & felt stuck with a nose worse than my original nose. I was so skeptical to go through with another rhinoplasty considering the cost financially and emotionally, but after months, I kept going back to look at the incredible results from Dr. W. Portuese on his website and Instagram. Finally, I sent in photos for a 3D imaging and when I was sent back the results from what he projected he could make my nose look like, I teared up. I loved how my nose looked and I was obsessed and hopeful that he could perform a surgery to make my nose look pretty and fit with my face. I then had a virtual consult with him as he is located in seattle and I am in socal and I immediately felt confident that this was the surgeon that was going to give me the nose I have always dreamed of. I was nervous though because I had felt this before and been let down, but his work speaks for itself. I had my revision rhinoplasty with him in august 2021 and the day before was only the first time I met him in person. I felt that he truly listened to all the aesthetics concerns I had about my nose and although it sounds superficial, I was so insecure about my nose and never took pictures or allowed people to look at me from the side due to a huge bump and a long droopy hook nose that I had been made fun of for, some people even referred to it as a “beak.” He shaved down the bump on the side, lifted the tip a little, and shaped it perfectly to fit with my face and I am beyond incredibly pleased with the results. My nose fits perfectly with my face and it looks like the nose I was meant to have & no one can tell I got it done, TWICE!. I also added a chin implant & feel that it makes my side profile look nice. Dr. Portuese is very skilled & I only wish I had gone to him first. The recovery was smooth and not painful compared to my first surgery when I was throwing up the next morning and my pain and bruising was minimal compared to the first surgery when I looked like I got hit by a bus. He gives you a cute little cast to keep over your nose until your follow up. The staff was incredible and very friendly, accommodating and always answered my questions and made me feel comfortable. Words cannot describe how truly grateful I am for Dr. P. 2.5 years later I still love my nose & have found my confidence again and love taking pictures. My new nose makes me look as happy as i feel. You have truly changed my life and all your patients are so lucky to have you.!
My initial consultation with Dr. Portuese was in July 2023 via Zoom. The day before the consultation I was sent my simulated after photos as a starting point to discuss my wishes during my appointment. Throughout the consultation he was very knowledgable and answered all of my questions. I never felt pressured during the meeting to commit to anything and I appreciated the transparent pricing online. For the work that he does, his prices are VERY fair and more affordable than some of the other surgeons I had met with. I knew Dr. Portuese was the right surgeon for me as I had no feedback on the simulated image, it was exactly what I was wanting and the fact that he had nailed it before even meeting me meant our goals were aligned. All of the pre-op phone calls and emails went smoothly. I paid the initial deposit with my debit card and I was able to pay the remaining total by check via mail. The morning of my surgery the nurse let my mom sit with me until I went into surgery. Picking out my cast was a welcomed distraction from the anxiety I was feeling. Dr. Portuese met with me before the operation and explained exactly what he would be doing in the simulated photo. The anesthesiologist was absolutely amazing and I had the best anesthesia experience I’ve undergone. The surgery was relatively quick and I was back to my Airbnb within 2 hours. The healing process was relatively easy. I didn’t feel the need to take any of the pain medication that they prescribed. By the third day I didn’t need the Tylenol anymore either. The nurses called periodically to check up on me. The bruising and swelling was very minor and by the time I went in for the cast removal, my face was back to normal. The biggest discomfort was honestly sleeping elevated on my back. Within a week I was working from home and within 2 weeks I was back in the office. The cast removal process was quick and easy. My nose looked much different than it does now. It looked artificially straight and not what my simulation looked like at all. My smile was also very stiff and my natural smile didn’t return for roughly 6 weeks. The following day after the cast removal, my nose started swelling without the cast to constrict it. Initially, this was very alarming, but I remained patient. The first two months was very challenging for me mentally. My nose was changing daily and my smile felt forced but I kept reminding myself that this was all apart of the process. I am just over 5 months post-op now and absolutely love my results. I have no regrets and wish I had done it sooner. I feel the best I have ever felt about myself. I relied heavily on these reviews and people posting their cast removal videos on instagram to ease my anxiety, so this is me paying it forward in hopes that I can be someone else’s reassurance! Updated on 5 Mar 2024: (Just updating the review to add some more recent photos from the 5 month mark. Swelling in the tip has decreased significantly since around the 2/3 month mark and I have regained almost all sensation back)
I had a primary rhinoplasty 7 months ago with Dr. Portuese. I found Dr. Portuese on Instagram and fell in love other the work that I saw on his profile. I called the office and scheduled a consultation. It was fast and the people who helped schedule the consultation were very nice. My consult came and I was very happy with how it went. Dr. Portuese noticed right away that I had a crooked nose and told me he would straighten it. He said he would fix my tip so that it did not droop when I smiled and he said he would bring my bridge down to give me a nice slope to give my face a more feminine look. It's like he read my mind on everything that I hated about my nose and told me he would fix it. He asked about any breathing issues and I expressed that I did have breathing problems and he said he would fix that too. Day of surgery came and everyone at his office was so nice and made sure to help calm my nerves. I saw Dr.Portuese before my surgery and he looked at my nose and again pointed out everything that he was going to fix. Bulbous tip, droopy tip, bridge, crookedness and my breathing issues. When I woke up from surgery the nurses were there and then Dr.Portuese came to check on me which I appreciated a lot. He assured me that my nose was very straight and that he had given me a beautiful slope and small tip. I remember feeling so happy. At the moment I am 7 months post op and I know that my nose is still healing and recovery for a rhinoplasty takes about a year but I am still patiently sitting and waiting to see my actual final result. At 7 months I can't say I am extremely happy with the result of my nose. I still have a droopy tip. I still have breathing problems, and I do not have a cute feminine slope. At this point I don't know how much more my nose will change I am hoping it somehow does so that I can feel confident in my nose. I am rating a 4/5 because everyone at the office and Dr. Portuese we're extremely nice and answered any question that I had and the process of setting an appointment and the actual day of surgery was so smooth and easy, just not 100% happy with my nose and it doesn't look different from my nose before surgery I still have all of the issues I wanted fixed. I will updated again at 1 year post op to see if anything has changed. Updated on 29 Aug 2024: I am now a year and a half post op. And I’m assuming this is how my nose will now stay. Can’t say I’m content with the results at all. I feel like my nose looks exactly the same it did before surgery with very subtle changes. It sucks because one works hard to save up for a big surgery like this for there not to be a drastic positive change in what made/makes you super insecure. I did have an appointment shortly after the original post was made and Dr.Portuese did say I can undergo another surgery for a small fee and he can lift the tip up slightly to give my nose a more straight appearance but honestly very scared to under go another survey and spend more money because what if it still looks the same after or maybe worse? Especially because I feel like both side profiles look very different so will a small tip lift really fix my nose and make it look nicer? So I’ve left it as is..
I followed Dr. Portuese's work for over a decade and finally committed to my rhinoplasty based on his natural looking results. I'm only one week post-op and I am already beyond impressed. Not one aspect of my care, from consultation to payment to procedure raised any sort of doubt that I was in the wrong hands. There was no pain postoperatively; it truly feels like you just have a terrible sinus cold. My issue was a bulbous tip that drooped when I smiled. He fixed both. You will not regret choosing this surgeon. Thank you, Dr. Portuese and team!
Dr Portuese and his team were very friendly and responsive throughout the entire process. I had my surgery almost two weeks ago and I already love the shape of my nose even with some residual swelling. The operation went quickly and my recovery was pretty seamless. I had some light bruising and swelling but otherwise hardly any pain and I was back in public less than a week later. I had a bulbous tip reduction, droopy tip, dorsal hump, and a wide nose. He fixed all of these issues just as I asked and I can't even see a scar. He even removed a mole for me upon request which was really nice.
Soo so happy with my rhinoplasty! Dr. Portuese was a delight to work with. He was thorough, resourceful, and kind. His team ensured I was comfortable and walked me through every step of the process. Dr. Protuese informed me I had a deviated septum and repaired it for me. I'm now able to breathe a lot better than before. The best part is that the procedure was completed so naturally that I have no external scarring and you wouldn't even be able to tell what I got done unless I told you. Overall, my experience with Dr. Portuese and his team was phenomenal and I would highly recommend him to any of my friends. Thank you SO much Dr. Portuese!!!!
I was insecure about my nose since I was 11 and decided to get a rhinoplasty last year at age 20 when I finally had enough saved. Pros: Dr. Portuese was funny and clearly trying to make me laugh before the procedure. He did good work on my nose and I'm really grateful for that. Cons: he never followed up after my 1-week cast removal, didn't reach out or anything. He also was very blunt and matter-of-fact which made me nervous at times. The "before" pictures they took of me were AWFUL, I'm sure they'd never even use me as an example because they never took "after" pictures and in the before ones, my eyes were half closed. I also had to pay $400 for a covid test because I had to have the results sent to them within like 24-48 hours of the surgery (which was scheduled on a monday) - where on earth can you get a covid test that quick on a weekend with results coming in that soon without paying so much? :( FINALLY; it was I think 117 degrees that day in Seattle and I wasn't allowed to drink water or anything until after my surgery which was at 2pm so I was dehydrated all day and felt awful. But that's not his fault, just unlucky. Overall, good experience, professional staff, and I like my nose.
I am currently 9 days post op from rhinoplasty and septoplasty surgery and I could not be happier with the results! Dr. Portuese completely fixed my breathing issue, even with swelling, I can breathe better now than I ever could before the procedure. I was always insecure about my nose, especially my side profile and it feels amazing to have a nose that perfectly fits my face and looks natural. I was initially nervous about having this surgery but the process went smoothly and efficiently from my virtual consultation to my post op appointment. Dr. Portuese has excellent bedside manner and made me feel comfortable and confident in his expertise. I highly recommend Dr. Portuese to anyone wanting this procedure, I only wish I had done it sooner!
The limited photographs demonstrate what appears to be ptosis on your left eyelid, which is a muscle weakness, and hooded and excess skin on the upper lids on both sides. An in-person examination is going to be required to make a determination about how best to proceed.
Based on these limited photographs, you do not appear to be a candidate for any type of facelift procedure. You also appeared to have a recessive chin and prominent pre-jowls on both sides of your chin, therefore you'd be a candidate for placement of a small chin implant to augment your chin further forward and gain additional width to widen the area in the pre-jowl sulcus. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, which takes about 30 minutes in the office setting.
You could try Botox on the higher eyebrow to try to drop it down, or a brow lift procedure for the lower eyebrow to raise it up, similar to the opposite elevated side
From this one limited photograph, your side profile and chin looks very balanced with the exception of your nose. Consider a closed rhinoplasty to shave down the dorsal hump, with all of the incisions placed on the inside of the nose. No external incisions are required, no painful packing is required either. Digital computer imaging of your nose upon your facial features would also be helpful to understand what can be accomplished with rhinoplasty
You can consider a genioplasty which involves making cuts in the mandible bone and setting it forward with screws and plates. This procedure is usually performed when the teeth are significantly out of alignment. It is performed by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with an overnight stay at the hospital, and is in more invasive than a chin implant. If your teeth are in relatively good position, and you just wanna cosmetic improvement, then consider placement of a chin implant, which can be done under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure in the office setting which takes about 30 minutes. The implant is placed through a small incision underneath the chin.
