Why does my right eye feel like it’s getting lazy? My right eye is lower than my left. (Photo)

Question

I have noticed over the last 6 months that my right eye is lower then my left. I get a tingling sensation on that side of my eye and cheek from time to time and I can feel the sensation of my eye drooping. That’s what it feels like. I can still smile fine and see out of my eye no drooling sometimes I can’t feel a tingling sensation on the right side of my arm.

Of course, you should be assessed for a Horner's syndrome but these are not that common.  It is much more likely that you have acquired ptosis due to levator disninsertion with a compensatory eyebrow elevation.  Treatment will depend on your precise finding but generally it involves eyelid surgery.  It is very unlikely to be related to the tingling sensation you have in your cheek.  There is no substitute for a detailed personal assessment.

Start with your primary care physician who will likely refer you to a neurologist to rule out the possibility of Horner's syndrome. a board certified ophthalmologist can also help you determine the cause.

Hello camsanchez,It is very hard to tell from that picture but appears that you might have ptosis (droop) of your right upper eyelid. There are many causes for this. Because of you tingling sensation, it might be worth visiting an expert oculoplastic surgeon to see the cause. The solution is quite simple and can be discussed at that meeting. The risks vs benefits must be weighed carefully so there are no unrealisitic expectaions. Hope this helps.Cheers
