How long before I would be back in fighting shape after a mommy makeover?

Thank you for your question and thank you for being a mom of six!!!!. Walking right away, no machines for three weeks. It takes 3 to 4 weeks before you can resume all activities like Brazilian Ju-Jitsu after a mommy makeover, tummy tuck and or breast augmentation- Lift. It will probably take closer to six weeks before you can go back to competition level. Make sure you see someone who is board certified ASAPS member plastic surgeon. It is recommended you have 3D Vectra imaging and be able to try on some implants in a tight sports bra. Technical aspects of gentle surgical technique with ability to do breast augmentation through the tummy with no incisions on the breast should be considered. wilson9101      Mommy Makeover Surgery is an extremely popular procedure with high patient satisfaction. It involves breast rejuvenation; breast lift, with or without implants and Tummy-tuck, with or without Liposuction. It is all usually performed at one time, but can be staged as well.  Breast implants will not affect recovery and return to working out because you will need to wait at least 6 weeks after the Tummytuck before heavy duty training or grappling and competing.  Long term, breast implants should not affect competing as well.  Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Most patients can go back to light cardio in 2-3 weeks as long as they are healing.  Full activity, weights and Jiu Jitsu usually started again 6-8 weeks from tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast lifts.  Competing may take longer.

Thank you for your question. Obviously the answer is somewhat surgeon-dependent. I can tell you that healed or repaired tissue reaches its maximal tensile strength by six weeks. This means that all restrictions are typically removed at that time. I usually tell my patients that they can start working out at four weeks and slowly build their exercise tolerance back to pre-surgical levels. This way the patients get to start exercising sooner in a safe manner. These any many other considerations should be discussed at an in person consultation.

Although patients typically return to work 1-2 weeks after a tummy tuck, I ask them not to engage in strenuous activities or heavy lifting for approximately 6 weeks from the date of surgery.  After that, there's no activity or movement restrictions.  For a breast lift or implants, this time interval would only be about 3 weeks.  These numbers, however are just guidelines -- every patient's plan of care is uniquely tailored to their specific needs.A visit to a plastic surgeon's office will help you to understand if you're a candidate for the procedure, and what aesthetic outcomes are realistic in your particular case.  In order to get a qualified, ethical, and expert opinion on your surgical options and expectations, always schedule an in-person office consultation with a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  Most of my patients are able to return to work in 2 weeks.  For full contact sports, I would recommend 4-6 weeks.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

Typically after the surgeries you described I would say anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks would be a good time frame  that you can get back to full contact sports.   Implants should not affect your ability to grapple depending on the size that you choose. I hope this helps :-) 

Typically, miserable fro 1 week, back to a deskjob at 2 weeks, light aerobic exercise at 4 weeks and anything you would like at 8 weeks.  This varies from doctor to doctor but is a pretty good general guideline.  Best of luck.
