This will be based on your surgeon's preference. Many surgeons do not request that patients refrain from coffee or tea after surgery has been completed.
Thank you for your question about recovery from Mommy Makeover.I specifically don't have any restrictions on tea or coffee for my patients who are having a mommy makeoverFor specific questions like this and about your recovery in general, it is best to speak directly with your doctor or doctor’s representative – such as his or her nurse, or the physician on call for the practice. You will likely get many differing opinions from members of the RealSelf Community, but they have not personally seen or examined you. Nobody should know you or your unique set of circumstances better than your doctor.I hope this helps. Best Wishes.
Every surgeon will have different opinions. I personally don't make my patients stop drinking coffee or tea, but many of my colleagues do. Those who do will have different lengths of time they want you to avoid those drinks too. I'd suggest booking an appointment with your surgeon to discuss your concerns. Best of luck!
The plastic surgeon you selected to perform your MM and lipo will have certain guidelines for pre and post-operative care. Best to consult with your plastic surgeon if no mention is made of limiting caffeine products in those guidelines. I encourage my patients to drink protein shakes to enhance wound healing following surgery.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
After a mommy makeover or liposuction, it's typically advised to wait until you're fully recovered before resuming caffeine consumption, as it can have effects on your healing process. Here’s a general guideline:1. Mommy Makeover (including tummy tuck, breast augmentation, etc.): Most plastic surgeons recommend waiting about 2 weeks before resuming coffee or tea. This is because caffeine can cause dehydration and may interfere with pain management or medication.2. Liposuction: For liposuction, the recommendation might be slightly more lenient, but it’s still best to wait at least 1-2 weeks. Caffeine can potentially increase bleeding and affect your body's ability to heal properly.Always follow the specific recommendations of your plastic surgeon or healthcare provider, as they may have recommendations based on your individual case. If you have any concerns or symptoms, it's best to consult with them directly.
These are all questions for your operating surgeons office. Everyone has different post op instructions and their reasons for them so his or her staff is your best resource at this time. Best wishes.Dean Vistnes, MD. Vistnes Plastic SurgerySan Francisco Bay #drdeanvistnes #realself #mommymakeover
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. I tell patients they can drink coffee and tea the same night after the surgery. Of course, you will need an in-person consultation to evaluate you for this procedure. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. I suggest that you find a board-certified plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of patients who have had similar procedures. Good luck!Best, Jon Ver Halen, MD FACS Harvard educated plastic surgeon Texas “Top Doc”, 2017
I personally do not require that my patients stop coffee and tea prior to surgery. Every surgeon has his own protocol for surgery. Best to consult with your plastic surgeon if no mention is made of limiting caffeine products in those guidelines.
