CoolSculpting is not an approved treatment for Gynecomastia. It is very essential that you obtain a consultation from an experienced plastic surgeon, and also rule out any risk of breast cancer (rare but aggressive) before considering CoolSculpting. Our patients have seen satisfactory improvement after Coolsculpting.
We recently participated in a study using CoolSculpting to treat gynecomastia. The results were quite good, though not as dramatic as with liposuction. Depending on the type of tissue and fat you have in your male breasts, CoolSculpting could be an effective option for you. Please consult a board-certified dermatologist to choose the best method to resolve your gynecomastia.
Hello, thank you for your question. CoolSculpting can be effective in treating what's called pseudo-gynecomastia (where the majority of the excess breast tissue is made of fat). However, CoolSculpting will not remove the enlarged breast gland, which is the nature of true gynecomastia. I'd recommend finding a provider who has experience with both CoolSculpting and surgical treatment of gynecomastia to determine which option would be best for you.
Our center recently performed a standardized trial with a special CoolSculpting applicator to treat gynecomastia. Some men showed some improvement. Liposuction may be more effective. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who is an expert in helping men with gynecomastia to be sure you get the best and most effective treatment.
Hi. Yes, coolsculpting can be effective to treat enlarged male breasts if there is mostly fatty tissue in the breast. If there is excessive skin or significant breast tissue itself, then the correction will be limited. An experienced provider will be able to measure the degree of gynecomastia and further advise.
CoolSculpting can help improve the appearance of gynecomastia, or man boobs, if the chest enlargement in due to accumulation of fatty tissue and not breast glandular tissue. We have had great success with this. Most men will need 2-3 rounds of treatment for optimal results. Make sure you see an experienced physician provider for an in-person consultation and evaluation to see if the treatment is appropriate for you. Best wishes.
I have successfully used CoolSculpting to improve gynecomastia in men. More than one treatment session is generally needed to get the best result.
Usually coolsculpting is not ideal for the gynecomastia in male since the breast tissue would not respond in similar fashion as fat in the area but a clinical evaluation is best to determine.
CoolSculpting can be a great treatment for some men with "pseudo-gynecomastia" which is male breasts that are caused by fat alone. However, most men have "true" gynecomastia which is both fat and breast tissue, by removing only the fat the breast tissue will remain making the breasts look even more prominent. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in gynecomastia. Good luck!
Coolsculpting is good for removing stubborn areas of fat, but lacks body shaping which gynecomastia needs. For best results improving gynecomastia, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer
