Will CoolSculpting on the belly displace my IUD?

Question

Hi, I'm considering doing CoolSculpting on my inner thighs and lower abdomen. One provider mentioned that since the procedure uses suction, it could affect my IUD placement. I don't have a whole lot of fat that would potentially act as a buffer zone to my uterus!

CoolSculpting is used to target subcutaneous fat (fat under the skin but above your muscles). Your IUD is in your uterus. CoolSculpting will not effect your IUD placement.

Coolscupting on the lower abdomen will have no effect on your IUD should you decide to use Coolsculpting.

CoolSculpting on your belly will not displace your IUD as it does not go that deep. It is mainly targeting the subcutaneous tissue. Beneath that you have your muscles, facia, liver and other organs. So it is very safe to have a CoolSculpting treatment in the presence of an IUD.

Absolutely not! Coolsculpting will have no effect on your IUD, your uterus, or any of your internal organs. It is specifically a treatment for superficial fat only, which lies between your skin and your underlying muscle layer. Although the treatment does have a very intense suction component, it will not harm or effect the internal organs.

Hi, The CoolSculpt vacuum effect is limited to the fat located above your abdominal wall.  The vacuum is powerful enough to pull tissue into the CoolSculpt applicator but should not affect your IUD.
