I was recommended to Dr Shanthala by my plastic surgeon who was retiring. It was one of the best referrals that I have been given. Dr Shanthala takes her time with you so she can understand what you want and what he think she can do for you. She spends the time with you, no in and out quickly and on to the next person. She is caring. She doesn't rush you and she explains everything. I have had a few procedures, including UltraClear Laser. She is conscientious, always checking up with you during recovery time. If you feel you need to speak to her she is there for you. If someone asked me for a referral I wouldn't hesitate to give Dr Shantlala name.

I sought treatment from Dr. Shanthala for stubborn, 20-year-old acne scars on my face (rolling and boxcar types) that had persisted since my teenage years. These were deep, tough scars, and finding an experienced physician (MD) who personally performs all procedures, without delegating to technicians or nurses or nurse aides, was very important to me. After extensive research in the area, I chose Dr. Shanthala, and I’m very glad I did. The consultation process was seamless and highly informative. Dr. Shanthala is one of the most kind and empathetic doctors I have met. She is very accommodating when it comes to both making time for patients and following up with them post-treatment. She is also very thorough and realistic when it comes to addressing your concerns, and my experiences with her treatments, which include ultraclear laser and RF microneedling, have been smooth. Dr Shanthala is one of the best dermatologists within the greater Boston area hands down. I've been to a few different doctors before I came across her and nobody compares in terms of genuine care and expertise in treating those with acne scars. She is extremely cautious and knowledgeable when it comes to planning reasonable treatments in helping scars improve over time. I have done a total of three combination treatments of Subcision/UltraClear laser skin resurfacing and I can confidently say that its improved my scar ~85%. Keep in mind I have a severe boxcar scar that's 10 years old and I have brown skin which also makes it difficult to treat since darker skin is at higher risk of pigmentation problems which goes to show just how knowledgeable she is by preventing those issues in the first place. No other dermatologist was able to show me any improvement but rather wasted my time and money, I honestly wish I had discovered her and came to her sooner. I cannot express my un-ending gratitude to Dr. Shanthala. I went to see her to address acne scarring and uneven skin tone. Unfortunately, I had a bad reaction to the ultraclear laser (which was no fault of Dr. Shanthala - just my unfortunate genetics) and I thought I would never recover.
