How can I reduce massive balloon swelling after a touch up from Juverderm to my lip? (Photos)

Swelling after lip injections can persist up to two weeks.  Icing the area can help, as well as keeping your head elevated.  Some patients find the use of bromelain to be helpful.  If after two weeks you still have concerns, return to your injector for an evaluation.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  The thin nature of the lip tissues do leave them prone to swelling after any injections.  This typically will resolve in 2-3 days after treatment while the augmentation results will soften and appear more natural over the next 2-3 weeks.  In the meantime, I would recommend continuing cold compresses to your lips, sleeping with your head slightly elevated, and using oral/topical arnica and bromelain to help speed your healing.  Hope this helps

It appear that you have received too much injection. Hyolanase, dissolving enzyme injection could break down the extra Juvederm. Otherwise you have to wait months for your body absorb and reverse your over projection

There isn't much you can do that you aren't already doing. You really just need to give your body time to heal. The swelling will resolve but as you know, it can take 2 weeks. 

Thank you for sharing your photos and your concerns.  It is normal to have swelling (edema) following injections with a hydrophilic filler such as Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus.  The amount of edema depends on a variety of factors including your predisposition to a histamine response (think of hives, hay fever, etc), the amount of filler, and the type of hyaluronic acid filler injected.  The good news is your cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon can prescribe Lasix to rapidly resolve the swelling caused by the Juvederm.  Please call him or her. Best of luck,Suneel Chilukuri, M.D.Houston, Texas
