I am scheduled to have rhinoplasty done in about 5 weeks. I have lost fullness under my eyes, so I am also having restylane done as well. I wanted to do it before surgery but I need help. I have talked to my doctor but have not really given me a straight answer which is a little unsettling. When should I have restylane done?
It is important not to have Restylane done to the nose. There have been numerous complications reported in the literature from this and it is advisable to steer clear of having any injectable products placed in the nose. We have also seen complications of Restylane placed in the eyelid area, especially when it gets injected into the orbital fat. It can remain there for years and gives the patients a very puffy look.
I have wrinkles under eyes and got some helpful answers from three doctors here on RealSelf. Thanks for the replies! I am going to research a good doctor in my area for a canthopexy surgery and a Sciton Erbium ProFractional... But I saw on RealSelf that some patients did fine with Restylane under their eyes. Would I be a candidate for that? Or would I be a better candidate for other types of fillers? I have included a photo of my wrinkles relaxed and not smiling for review. Thanks.
We do not recommend fillers around the eyes for dynamic eye wrinkles. Excess wrinkles on the lower lids can be addressed through a pinch technique where excess skin on the lower lids is removed at the lash line. A canthopexy is only used to bring up a lax lower lid such as a retracted lid from a hound dog look. Crows feet are best treated with Botox.
I had Rhinoplasty over 10 years ago. Overall, I'm happy with the results and glad that I did it. However, it has always bugged me a little bit that one side is more "pinched" than the other.
Would this be an instance when a filler such as Restylane would be recommended?
It is not advisable to have any fillers or injectables placed in the nose after a rhinoplasty. There have been multiple severe complications from injecting fillers, including necrosis of the nose.
