My scars are hypertrophic and unsightly. I am overall pleased with the breast aug but the scars make me feel like I've swapped one set of issues for another. I am using silicone strips but am not satisfied with the results. My surgeon is sort of dismissive about them and just want me to wait it out. Do most surgeons provide kenalog/cortison shots post-op or is it common to have a surgery and then have to find another doc to take care of the scars? Please post suggestions for my scars.
I think your scars are well above the infra-mammary fold, and in that position are subject to significant tension from the underlying implant. I think the measures you have taken so far will improve the scar, but will not change the position. Scar massage is also a very effective means of softening scars. What are the effects of injecting fat graft into a scar tissue? I have heard that fat is being used to treat wounds and scars.
Fat grafting beneath scars and damaged skin (after radiation treatments, for example) has been observed to improve overlying scar quality. Fat can also provide volume beneath a scar when it is released from its underlying attatchments.
Is there any treatment of a surgical scar on the knee? I had ACL surgery. Its not a keloid it looks like wrinkled skin thats light that the rest of my skin. (African American)
Recently studies have come out regarding the use of fractional lasers to ablate and decrease the appearance of scars and stretch marks. The technology allows a fraction of the scar to be removed at the time of treatment and then the heat created from the laser will stimulate collagen rejuvenation. Early results are very encouraging.
