I Have a Lipoma on my Back. Is There a Risk Waiting to Remove It?

I just discovered what appears to be a lipoma (maybe 1" in diameter) on my lower left back. I think it has been contributing to lower back pain. I'm seeing a dermatologist this week, but was wondering if there is a risk in waiting 3 more weeks until after our vacation to remove it. Thanks

A: Lipoma removal

You can wait 3 weeks/months or even years ! The procedure is an office procedure under local anesthesia. Lipoma is a benign growth.  No urgency whatsoever in the surgical removal.

Lipoma - Should I Get a Biopsy?

i have been to the doctor today about a lump which has been growing on my left hip/buttock, my doctor was sure it is a lipoma, i dont feel confident without getting tests done, should i get a second oppinion or an ultrasound or biopsy?

A: Lipoma on hip

Usually a good physician can clinically determine the nature of the growth. However , a small punch biopsy, not necessarily a total excision, can give the definitive answer.

I Have a Lipoma on my Neck and It's About the Size of a Golf Ball - What Should I Do?

Well i have a Lipoma on my neck from what my docter said. It's been causing me neck pain for a while now. So what do you think i should do. Also i should say i'm only about 16 and nobody else in my family...that i know of has one.

A: lipoma on neck

Lipomas are benign growths. However, if you are having pain, it would be easy to remove it under local anaesthesia. Please have your dermatologist, surgeon evaluate it clinically, & then you can proceed with the removal, as needed. Sometimes cysts, or a rare condition called cystic hygroma, can be mistaken clinically for a lipoma.
