I live in Ireland and wish to get my Arm Lift procedure done in New York. Would I have to attend visits before the procedure or would photos be enough for the surgeon?
While pictures can help with plannig - all plastic surgeons use them - there is no substutute for a hands on examination. Skin quality, tone, overall health, mental stability, etc., can only be evaluated in person.
Out of town patients in my practice are evaluated at least a few days before the scheduled surgery and if the patient is not a good candidate, the surgery will be cancelled. Would you want a surgeon that operated on anyone at all without any safety or surgical criteria other than the ability to pay? I wouldn't!
i hate my underarm flapping skin. Was considering arm lift surgery. However, it's not clear to me if I'd also need to get liposuction to get results. What is the best way to know ahead of a consultation if it will be necessary?
The answer depends on your presentation. If the hanging skin has very little fat underneath, lipo will not help at all - if fact it can increase the risk of healing and even cause irregularities the final result. On the other hand, if there is a combination problem- both skin and extra fat, lipo can augment the result.
I had Gastric bypass surgery about 8 years ago and lost 100lbs. Since then, I’ve experienced “loose skin”…EVERYWHERE!! I hate it!! I’m just as self conscious in clothes as I was 100 pounds ago. I’d like a complete body lift but that is definitely NOT in my budget. I’ve been considering mesotherapy or some other non surgical alternative on my arms because I’d like to at least feel comfortable in short sleeves (since the lower half of my body is a DEFINITE case of “nip/tuck”). I’m looking to tighten the skin, I’m sure I could afford to rid my arms of some fat, but primarily it’s the loose skin I’d like to focus on. Any recommendations? Experiences? Comments?
Many patients have an unreasonable aversion to surgery in these cases whereas the truth is that it is the most successful method of treatment. Financial issues aside - skin tightening tecniques are very effective for these problems. You will be dissapointed with non surgical "experimental" treatments.
