My mother went for a Endotine Ribbon cheek and neck lift a month ago due to sagging skin. But her neck and cheeks are starting to sag again and she's worried. The ribbons are also very noticeable now, and she has rugged skin under her neck. Is there any chance that she will stay with those signs permanently?
The Endotine appliance will eventually resorb since it is a dissolvable device. Unfortunately, most of the effect achieved with Endotine will be lost if the tissue was not surgically lifted, fixated and removed. This is the shortcoming of not only Endotine, but also the Thread Lift and other non-invasive types of procedures.
I am looking for a non-surgical, long term solution to slim down and tighten my chin and neck. Any ideas?
Congratulations on your decision to lose weight and trim down!
Unfortunately I am not aware of a non-surgical treatment that will improve a flabby neck.
After you have lost weight and are within 5-10 pounds of your target weight, if you still have loose skin or a flabby neck, consult with a plastic surgeon to see if you are a candidate for neck lift or liposuction.
I have developed a turkey neck look and can't stand how old it makes me look. Plenty of magazines suggest alternatives to getting neck lift surgery. Do any of these seem worth trying instead of plastic surgery?
- tightening cream like L’Oreal’s Collagen Skin Re-Modeller
- accent laser
- restylane
The alternatives you mention my be helpful for crepey skin and fines lines, but for a turkey neck, surgery is the only effective technique.
The cords that form are from laxity of a thin muscle in the neck, the platysma. The front edges of the muscle lose tone and hang down. Unfortunately, exercises have not proven to be of help in alleviating the cords.
The cords are repaired by sewing the edges of the muscle together so they no longer hang down.
If there is extra skin and fat, again a surgical neck lift is the only alternative.
