It seems most at home whitening kits say to not use them immediately after brushing your teeth. However, of course I want my teeth clean before I bleach so I get the best & most even result possible. How long does a person need to wait after brushing to start their whitening?
You should not need to wait an extended length of time to whiten you teeth after brusing. It is recommended that the teeh be clean and free of plaque and tarter for the best results.
I've heard people saying that swishing with hydrogen peroxide can get your teeth really white. Will it actually whiten the teeth? Is it safe?
I have some patients that swish with 3% hydrogen peroxide as a part of their hygiene program. This can whiten the teeth over time but may take months to years to notice a difference. If you are serious about whitening your teeth talk with your dentist and decide what is the best method for you. Professional teeth whitening is still the best most predictable way to bright white smile.
Is it a myth that after your teeth are professionally whitened, you have to drink coffee through a straw, otherwise your teeth become permanently stained?
We do tell our patents that they should avoid all dark staining foods including coffee for the first 48 hours. This is so that the pores of the teeth have a chance to close up and dont get clogged with dark stains. Drinking through a straw will definitely avoid those foods from getting into your teeth and will prolong the whitening results
