What Are the Pros and Cons of Latisse for Health Care Providers

Latisse is wonderful drug which induces eyelash growth and is FDA approved for this use.  As a physician, we should be learning as much as possible about treatments and informing patients of which ones work and which ones do not.  Since the effectiveness of this medication and its side effects are known, why not recommend this medication rather than have patients use OTC products whose side effects and effectiveness are unknown.

Safest Treatment for Sun Damage and Broken Capillaries in Sensitive Skin?

I was diagnosed with mild Rosacea 3 years ago. After being on a low-dosage Isotretinoin for 9 months my skin stabilised. I have some sun damage and brown spots/patches, I have several broken capillaries around my nose, my pores are enlarged and skin looks rough. I am currently using Obagi Nu derm with Tretinoin 0.05 which seems to even out the skin tone but I would like to get treatment for the redness and roughness. Which is safest: Sciton BBL or Pulsed Dye Laser?

I prefer the pulsed dye laser for redness and roughness on the skin. You can consider combining an IPL device witht the pulsed dye laser so that the brown patches could be eradicated along with the facial redness. I usually find 3-5 treatments are necessary for optimal results. Good luck.

Is Liposuction Right for Me To Contour My Abdomen? (photo)

I am 19 and weight about 200 lbs. I have a thyroid problem and I have gone to numerous doctors and nutritionists and I work out everyday. I do not hate my body nor do I want liposuction to be used as a weight loss aid. I really want to know if it could help contour my body, namely my arms and my abdomen. I don't mind the size of my abdomen just the look it has. I just want to know if liposuction would help that.

No, I do not think you are a good candidate for liposuction surgery. Most importantly, I do not think you will be pleased with the results of surgery;  most likely you will end up with significant skin contour irregularity and/or redundant skin.

As you know, it is in your best interest to drop weight prior to undergoing any type of body contouring surgery;  it sounds like you are already doing the right things with medical management of the thyroid problem, and a rigorous diet and exercise program. Hopefully with these  ongoing efforts  you will be able to reach your goals ( hopefully without surgical intervention).

By the way, be careful of advice that you may receive  regarding surgical and nonsurgical modalities;  it is much better to avoid costly mistakes...
