I am 31 years old and had my breast augmentation done 5 years ago. I have started to become more and more aware of my lateral displacement, which I notice mainly when laying on my back. Is this something that can be corrected?

Answer: Lateral displacement Thank you for your question. It is not uncommon for implants, especially that are placed under the muscle, to start to migrate laterally. This will be more noticeable when laying down. Of note this is also seen within an augmented breasts. Treatment for this can be to perform a capsulorrhaphy either with sutures or an energy device in the operating room. As this is likely to recur over time, I would not recommend undertaking this surgery until it is becoming nearly unbearable for you. Good luck.

Answer: Breast revision Thank you for your question. A large portion of my practice is dedicated to revision breast surgery. In your case, I would recommend suturing the lateral/outer portion of the pocket - capsulorrhaphy and opening up the center portion of the pocket-capsulotomy. I wrote the first paper on how to perform this almost 20 years ago. You are an excellent candidate for this. Best wishes to you.
