Can I use the steamroom 2 weeks post rhinoplasty?

Can I use the steamroom 2 weeks post rhinoplasty? Or should I wait longer? Mine was a silicone implant, which I heard has a much faster healing time as compared to the other options.

nose should be examined for complete healing before heading into the steam
room.This is especially important if an
implant is in place, as the implant could get infected. It would be best to
follow up with your Plastic Surgeon.

I suggest you speak with the surgeon who performed your surgery. Keep in mind that the nasal structure will be fragile up through the four-month mark. It is imperative that you be very diligent in your recovery so that you maximize the returns you seek from your elective cosmetic surgery.

At two weeks post-rhinoplasty, your recovering
nose is still extremely vulnerable. I would advise that you refrain from
entering a steam room or sauna for at least 6-weeks after your surgery. These
communal facilities may have adverse affects that can cause a bacterial
infection and that can increase swelling that would make your recovery
unnecessarily long.

I would consult with your rhinoplasty surgeon. With an implant, it is always better to make sure the nose is completely healed before exposing it to potential bacteria in a steamroom or other community type settings.

It is very important to follow your surgeons advice for the post-operative period. Anything that causes excess swelling may have adverse effects on the outcome. I would suggest speaking with your surgeon about each specific issue. I have my patients wait a bit longer to go in hot tubs or steam rooms. Best of luck

Thanks for your question. If your nose is healing well, I can't think of any reason why visiting a steam room would be harmful. Moisture is excellent for noses, especially those that have been recently operated. The only word of caution that I'd give you is to check with your surgeon first. If you have areas inside your nose that haven't been healing well, particularly when a synthetic implant is used, you need to be exceedingly careful to avoid situations where you can get an infection. So please, check with your surgeon first. Good luck!

probably wait at least 3-4 weeks before going in the steam room or doing
anything that might prolong swelling. Also, there is possible contact with bacteria
in a steam room.   It is best to avoid this type of environment until
you are completely healed.
