Hello! Thank you for your question. The number of tummy tucks performed per year by a plastic surgeon will vary with geographic location as well as interest in performing such a body contouring procedure. Certainly researching a board certified plastic surgeon well-versed in abdominal contouring procedures is recommended. Consult with two or more surgeons who you are happy with their postoperative photographs and those who you, most importantly, feel comfortable and confident with. Use the opportunity to ask questions as well as visit with staff and investigate the accredited facilities they work out of. Discuss the number of those procedures performed as well as your goals/expectations and agree on a proposed plan. Hope that this helps! Best wishes!
Some surgeons may perform up to 200 each year. Find a tummy tuck expert who has great reviews and great before and after pictures.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
Hello and thanks for the question. The answer to this question varies from surgeon to surgeon. More experienced plastic surgeons perform more than younger surgeons in their early years. I perform between 50 to 70 a year and have been a plastic surgeon for 28 years. Experience is one of the most important factors to consider when choosing a plastic surgeon. Other factors include certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, friendly and helpful staff, use of state-certified surgical centers and bedside manner. Hope this helps with your question.
The average plastic surgeon who emphasizes aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery should have substantial experience with tummy tucks, often as part of a mommy makeover. I do about 50-75 per year, which is probably more than average. Experience is only one criterion for choosing a plastic surgeon however.
Thanks so much for your question. There are standardized numbers that are published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. This study gives the most up to date numbers for all of plastic surgery procedures performed in the U.S. Go to the website will be able to find this information easily. I personally perform 50-70/year. Hope this helps.
Dear PetiteAZ,Some plastic surgeons do not enjoy doing tummy tucks and therefore perform very few per year. Others, on the other hand, may base their whole practice on them. If you want an experienced tummy tuck surgeon I would expect that they would do at least one tummy tuck per year, preferably more. All the best,Dr. Remus Repta
For a plastic surgeon who does a significant amount of abdominal work, you can expect them to perform between 1 and 3 tummy tucks per week, i.e. 50-150 per year. If the surgeon only does one a month, they are obviously focusing on other operations in their practice.
Every surgeon's totals vary from month to month and year to year. the important thing is to chose a board certified plastic surgeon who has experience as reflected in his photos and patient testimonialsDr. Corbin

I agree with the other doctors who have responded so far. Possibilities include intra-abdominal fat and muscle repair weakness or separation. Physical examination should help figure out about the muscle repair as described below.Contract your abdominal muscles when lying down. This might be best...
