Very active 28 Year Old Male. Considering surgery and stuck between what procedure I should aim for going into consultations. I haven’t scheduled any yet as I am still debating on a few surgeons in my area but other then my Gynocomastia I’m unsure if I should aim for liposuction or a tummy tuck. Any insight is appreciated and helpful!
Answer: Liposuction is better option. Thank you for your photographs. It appears you have both increased subcutaneous fat, but likely also an increase in the amount of your visceral fat. While liposuction can reduce the amount of subcutaneous fat, it does not reduce the visceral fat. This is treated with weight loss. Check your BMI and if it is above 30, you would benefit by reducing your weight prior to considering any procedures. You do not appear to have any excess hanging skin of your abdomen, and therefore an abdominal plasty, with its obligatory incision line, would not be in your best interest. Have a detailed discussion with your plastic surgeon about your best way forward.

Answer: Hello Hello, it depends on the laxity of your skin, it is something that should be evaluated in person, but if it is only for the photo, probably with liposuction you would have a good result without the need for the tummy tuck

Answer: Liposuction & Gynecosmastia It looks like you have good skin elasticity based on the absence of stretch marks. I see a few small ones, but for the most part it, you appear to have good skin elasticity. I’d recommend vaser liposuction of your chest, abdomen, flanks, and possibly back. Vaser liposuction uses ultrasound and heat to melt the fat that is being removed, and at the same time it stimulates collagen to tighten the skin. You could have gynecomastia to tighten the chest and reposition the nipples. If you would like to be seen here at Smith Plastic Surgery, feel free to reach out to my office for a consultation. 702-838-2455

Answer: Tummy tuck with mesh Liposuction of the abdomen would be insufficient. You definitely need a tummy tuck. I recommend an abdominoplasty with mesh reinforcement. The mesh creates a more flatten abdomen by compressing the abdominal wall resulting in early satiety and helps maintain a reduced weight. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Tummy Tuck Procedure Thank you for your question regarding the choice between abdominal liposuction and a tummy tuck. I appreciate the information you have provided, including your medical history and photographs. Upon reviewing your pictures, it is evident that you have a moderate amount of excess fat and skin in the anterior abdominal muscle or rectus muscle area. It is important to note that liposuction is primarily designed to remove fat and does not address muscle concerns. Its impact on skin contractility is minimal. Given your combination of skin, fat, and muscle issues, the most suitable surgical option for you would be an abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck. During a tummy tuck procedure, an incision is made low in the pubic region. Tissue dissection is then performed up to the sternum, exposing the rectus abdominal muscles. By addressing the descending muscles and correcting their laxity, a more aesthetically pleasing contour can be achieved, particularly when viewed from the side or when wearing fitted clothing. Additionally, any excess skin from just above the pubic region to the belly button is directly removed. While liposuction can be combined with a tummy tuck, it may not always be necessary. Therefore, I strongly recommend a tummy tuck procedure for you, as I believe that liposuction alone would not fully address your concerns. In fact, relying solely on liposuction may result in an unfavorable outcome, as it is unlikely to sufficiently improve skin contraction. I hope this clarifies the choice between a tummy tuck and abdominal liposuction. Wishing you the best of luck. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen
