I am beyond grateful for the exceptional care I received from Dr. Katzen and his entire team. After years of researching and a year-long communication with his office, I chose Dr. Katzen for my surgery, and it was the best decision I could have made. His bedside manner is unparalleled; he was always available to answer my questions and ensured I felt comfortable throughout the process. The initial 10-day recovery near his office was seamless, thanks to the amazing nursing team they recommended. Even after returning home to Las Vegas, they checked on me daily, and at 8 weeks post-op, Dr. Katzen personally removed the last of my drains. The results are outstanding—my scar is minimal, and I feel amazing. Since having the silicone removed, I’ve experienced increased mood, clarity, and no more fatigue; the numbness in my leg has also disappeared. I chose to do the open technique and I added mid section lipo. I am 100% confident I made the right choice with Dr. Katzen and his team. Thank you so much, Dr. Katzen!
Dr Katzen and his staff are amazing! From my first consult through all of my post surgery appointments, everyone was incredibly kind. Dr Katzen is truly amazing at what he does, and genuinely cares about his patients. He gave me a great tummy tuck after I had lost almost 100lbs, and I am very happy with my results. When I had a minor complication, he and his lovely staff were incredible, and regularly followed up with me to make sure everything was ok. I moved out of state and he and his staff still called and emailed frequently to check on my recovery. I can’t thank him and his staff enough for their care! If you decide to go with Dr Katzen for your procedure, you won’t regret it!
I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to have found this doctor for my plastic surgery after losing 178 pounds. Not only do I look phenomenal, but the process was more less daunting than I anticipated. The doctor is always available and his team is super responsive. I researched plastic surgeons and it paid off. I got the best and I hope if you’re considering any plastic surgery you visit Dr Katzen‘s website. He’s not only extremely knowledgeable, but with such a tremendous bedside manner and his team reflect his leadership. I had a 360 lower body lift and a crescent, high lift and an arm lift And he schedule them all for me so I could leave for home the UK soon sooner than I thought. Feel super fortunate to have found him and I know you will too.
I had surgery with Dr. Katzen in November. It’s about to be three months. I could not be happier. Dr Katzen and his staff are godsent. I had biopolymers for 14 years with significant migration to the groin and down the legs. Dr Katzen removed 92% of the product. In my case, 95% of it was in the fatty tissue. I no longer have any symptoms. No itching, no warmth in the area, no discomfort when sitting or wearing certain clothes. I stayed in LA for three weeks although he requires 10 days. I wanted to be there until at least two of the drains were removed, but you are safe going home with them. When the drain output is low enough at home, Dr. K will be on Facetime with you instructing you(family member) on how to take them out. I had 4 drains in total, one in each buttock and one in each leg. The day before flying home, we were able to have the two on the left side taken out. I didn’t stay at an aftercare, they said it wasn’t necessary for this procedure. I took my husband and my parents with me and even them three were hands full. You will need at least one person with you all the time. You will have a bladder catherer, you will have drains for 3+ weeks, you will generally be facing down the whole time for around 4 weeks, at around 2 weeks he will tell you that you can start going on your sides a little bit. You won’t be allowed to shower until drains are removed and incisions are fully closed, in my case a month. But all of this will be worth it because you will have healthy glutes, healthy body overall and healthy mind. Your immune system will thank you. If you need to get this surgery done, Dr Katzen is your best choice, he has more than 15 years experience doing this procedure. After surgery, he and his staff will be a phone call away the whole time.
Dr. Katzen really cares about his patient's wellbeing and really does the best he can to give you the best results possible. His whole team is amazing and so sweet and are always there to answer any questions you may have (pre/post-surgery). Dr. Katzen is truly present (and does the best he can to break down procedures so you can understand) with his patents and is also so helpful post-surgery on how to properly clean the wounds etc. I am post-op almost 2 months and I am healing amazing and are guided by a whole team (POP RECOVERY) who is supporting me in so many ways (mental health, wound specialist, recovery coach, nutritionist, etc.). I Love Dr. Katzen and are so greatful I found his talent; this man truly changes lives.
I had a gender affirming surgery with Dr Katzen in November 2023, a year later & I’m still so happy with my results. Dr. Katzen helped talk me through & understand the different procedures I could have done to have my breasts removed & have a flat & more masculine chest. Dr Katzen & his staff are all so kind & very professional. They always made me feel welcome & took great care of me. My life has changed drastically since my visit, Dr. Katzen’s work has made me feel more confident & the most me I’ve ever felt. I would highly recommend Dr. Katzen
If you are here because a doctor in Miami promised you a larger penis and scrotum size with a “secret formula” then let me tell you about my journey: what this formula ended up being was silicone, which is not FDA approved. Not only the procedure was painful but also expensive; after 12+ months of after care, it became just an array of infections and complications. Some days I could barely walk because of the swelling. The scrotum would swell the size of a melon and it would be impossible sometimes to even put on pants without immense embarrassment. Two years of this ordeal that affected my work, every day life, and relationship (intimacy was almost non-existent). After coming back to the original doctor to get it fixed, the approach by him was the same: prescribe strong antibiotics and corticosteroids which would work for the time I was taking them and after they ran its course, it would go back to the same repetition of infection and discomfort. Knowing he wouldn’t be able to fix the mess he made, I started to look for doctors that could fix this. Then I found Dr Katzen’s video on YouTube where he removes silicone from a patient penis. I still did a consult with the other two doctors but Dr Katzen standout immediately. I have worked in healthcare for 13 years and his approach, bedside manners, and sincere concern was outstanding. He listened, he was clear about his plan to fix it, about the post-care, there was no doubt after my consult that he was legitimate. Not only is he more than qualified, I wanted transparency and this is what I found in him. This was not an alone effort either, the staff at his office is so remarkable I could write a different review about them. Thank you Anna, Jessica, and Ariel. You treated me like a human being, you were also caring, helped us to get all the paperwork together, worked with our schedules since I am in the East coast, even when we returned home, they checked if we had made it home ok. That is going the extra mile, and I will forever be thankful for making me feel human again after I thought my situation was a lost cause.
Hey ladies, So I came to Dr. Katzen to have silicone removed from my butt. So I had silicon injections 17yrs ago. In 2018 I had some removed by Dr. Mir in ny. However he left a lot behind at least that’s what I thought. Saw Dr Katzen in a virtual consultation in 2021 and then again in 2023. Reviewed the MIR with me and went through what I would need and how long the procedure would take. So finally in 2024 I had the money to do the procedure. I must say I was excited and nervous at the same time. I was tired of all the symptoms I was experiencing from the silicone. Such as anxiety, fatigue, enlarged thyroid, trouble sleeping, aching joints etc. Just overall not feeling healthy. They gave me a list of things to purchase most things my nurse brought with her automatically. Yes ladies I hired a nurse. From my experience after this procedure you will need help and it’s best to hire professional help. My nurse cost me $5000 for around the clock care. Such as making sure I’m taking all my medications. Making me 3 meals a day, checking my vitals etc. So I flew in from NC to Los Angeles. And stayed in a Airbnb for 14 days. Dr Katzen required you stay local for 10 days minimum. So surgery day was Wednesday 10/30 at 6am. We went through taking pictures and pretty much everything we had already discussed at preop the day before. Once pictures was done I layed in the bed. They got my iv going and next thing I know I was sleep. I woke up and the procedure was done. I was not in pain at all. Transportation services were required. So ambulance picked me up and transported me to my Airbnb. The traffic was terrible. We left the surgery center around 5pm and didn’t get there until 6:30p. I was sleeping the entire way. Once home my had everything set up for me. Checked my vitals etc. Made sure I took all my medications. By day 6 it was it was time for me too go to the doctor for my postop visit. He checked my drain log and determine that we needed to leave the drains in explained how important it was for me to drink a gallon of water a day. also to drink 3 to 4 protein shakes per day. He told me that it was mostly scar tissue and the last doctor got most of the silicone. My main concern with my butt was the hardness and other health issues it was causing. I’m hoping that the discoloration completely goes away. He said that he cut most of the discoloration off so what time it should go away. He said that we have to give it at least six months. Once I hit one month postop, I’ll post a picture and keep you ladies updated so far. This was a five star experience and I would highly recommend Dr.Katzen. Also, I almost forgot these are the symptoms that have since improved. I no longer have anxiety. My skin is so much softer, my joints don’t hurt anymore. And I’m not as irritable. I overall feel way better. Dr. Katzen stated the thyroid takes about six months to go back to normal size. Also, my lymph nodes used to feel painful now they are no longer painful.
Dr. Katzen is one of the best doctors I’ve ever been to! He took such great care of me, was patient, answered all my questions, took my calls no matter how busy he was, and his work is amazing! He gave me follow up care for months after my surgery until he cleared me. I would recommended him with every fiber of my being!
I had an amazing experience with this doctor. Not only was he extremely nice you can tell he cares about his patients well being and will make sure to answer any questions you might have. I am 5 months post opp from Lipo and am very happy with my results. I am really thankful to Dr. Timothy Katzen and his team for being so attentive throughout my whole recovery.
Thank you for your question about how long you should wait after running a marathon before undergoing a lower and upper body lift. Running a marathon is a tremendous physical feat that places a lot of demand on your cardiovascular, muscular, and immune systems. Because of this, it is important to allow your body sufficient time to fully recover before having major elective surgery like a body lift. In general, I recommend waiting at least 2 to 4 weeks after completing a marathon before undergoing a lower and upper body lift. This gives your body time to recover from the physical stress and any muscle breakdown or dehydration that occurred during the race. Ideally, your energy levels, nutritional status, and lab values (such as iron and protein levels) should be restored to normal prior to surgery. If you experienced any injury, illness, or immune suppression from marathon training or racing, it may be wise to wait even longer—up to 6 to 8 weeks—to ensure you are in optimal health before undergoing a major procedure. Body lifts, particularly when combining upper and lower body lift procedures, are significant surgeries that require your body to be in top condition to heal well and reduce the risk of complications. Before moving forward with surgery, I recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in post-weight loss body contouring. Be open about your recent marathon and ask if any preoperative labs (such as hemoglobin, albumin, or CRP) are needed to confirm you're ready. If you have any underlying fatigue, muscle soreness, or signs of inflammation, it may be best to wait a bit longer before proceeding. If you have further questions about body lifts, including extended body lift, circumferential body lift, upper body lift, or lower body lift, I encourage you to consult with an experienced plastic surgeon who has performed at least 100 of these procedures and has before and after photos to show their work. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen (President of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons, Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Fellow of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American College of Surgery, International College of Surgery, and American Board of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and RealSelf Hall of Fame.)
Thank you for your question about how to best prepare for a successful body lift and what can help or hinder your healing. Proper preparation and postoperative care can make a significant difference in your outcome, comfort, and long-term results. First and foremost, one of the most critical factors is achieving and maintaining a stable weight before surgery. Ideally, patients should be at or near their goal weight for at least 3 to 6 months prior to their procedure. This helps ensure optimal skin removal and better long-term contour. Significant weight loss after a body lift could result in new skin laxity, while weight gain could compromise the results. Regular exercise—especially strength training—before surgery improves circulation, tones underlying muscles, and can make recovery easier. However, you should stop strenuous activity several days before surgery to reduce your risk of injury or inflammation. Regarding medications, it’s important to review all prescriptions, supplements, and over-the-counter drugs with your plastic surgeon. Some medications can interfere with healing, such as: Blood thinners like aspirin, ibuprofen, or warfarin (can increase bleeding) Steroids (can impair wound healing if used long-term) Smoking and nicotine products (can dramatically impair blood flow to healing tissue) If you're taking medications for diabetes, blood pressure, or thyroid, your surgeon may consult with your primary care provider to adjust dosages for optimal balance before and after surgery. To enhance healing, many surgeons recommend starting a vitamin and supplement regimen that may include Vitamin C, zinc, magnesium, iron (if anemic), and a multivitamin. These support tissue repair and immune function. However, always confirm with your plastic surgeon before starting any supplements, as some can affect clotting. After surgery, the most important things you can do to promote healing include: Wearing your compression garment as directed Avoiding smoking or alcohol Maintaining adequate nutrition and hydration Getting enough rest Attending all post-op appointments Following wound care instructions precisely Considering hyperbaric oxygen therapy if your surgeon recommends it—this can increase oxygen delivery to healing tissues and reduce risk of complications in high-risk patients. By focusing on healthy habits, optimizing your medical conditions, and working closely with an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon, you can maximize both the safety and success of your body lift. If you have further questions about the body lift, extended lower body lift, or 360 circumferential lower body lift, please contact a surgeon who specializes in post-weight loss plastic surgery. Choose someone who has performed at least 100 body lifts and has the before and after pictures to prove it.
Thank you for your question regarding how long you need to wait before resuming heavy exercise after a lower body lift. This is an excellent and very common concern, especially for active individuals like yourself who want to maintain their fitness without compromising their surgical results. A lower body lift is a major surgery that typically includes removal of excess skin and fat from the abdomen, hips, lower back, and sometimes the buttocks and thighs. Because of the extensive nature of the procedure and the involvement of muscle tightening in many cases, your body will need time to properly heal and strengthen. Generally, most board-certified plastic surgeons recommend avoiding all strenuous activity, including running, kickboxing, and heavy lifting, for a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks after surgery. Light walking is encouraged early on to promote circulation and reduce the risk of blood clots, but high-impact activities should be avoided until cleared by your surgeon. Resuming exercise too early can lead to wound healing problems, fluid collections (seromas), stretched scars, or even muscle separation, all of which can affect your long-term results. Once your surgeon has cleared you—typically between 8 to 12 weeks post-op—you can start easing back into cardio and core exercises gradually. Patients are usually able to resume full activity over the course of 3 to 4 months, but this varies based on your individual healing, surgical technique, and how extensive your lift was. I hope this helps answer your question about when it is safe to resume intense workouts after a lower body lift. If you have any further questions about body contouring, exercise after surgery, or long-term maintenance, please consult with an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon who has performed hundreds of body lifts. Be sure to review their before-and-after pictures and check patient testimonials.
Thank you for your question regarding your symptoms two weeks after umbilical hernia repair with mesh. While some discomfort and fatigue are normal after surgery, feeling lightheaded, weak, and experiencing a racing heart is not typical and could signal something more serious. Two weeks post-op, most patients should be gradually regaining energy, especially if they’ve started walking and following post-op instructions. However, persistent or worsening symptoms like weakness, dizziness, and increased heart rate could point to a few possibilities that require immediate medical evaluation. These include: Dehydration or electrolyte imbalance, especially if your fluid intake has been low Infection, either at the incision site or internally (around the mesh), which can cause systemic symptoms like fatigue, fever, and a racing heart Internal bleeding or hematoma formation, particularly if your hemoglobin has dropped Cardiovascular changes or reactions to medications used during or after surgery Even though you’re walking and making an effort to recover, it’s very important not to ignore these symptoms. I highly recommend that you call your surgeon immediately or visit an urgent care or emergency department. You may need blood work, vital sign monitoring, and possibly imaging to rule out infection, anemia, or other complications. Please don’t delay seeking care. When it comes to post-surgical recovery, it’s always better to err on the side of caution.
Thank you for your question regarding how to maintain your results after weight loss and loose skin removal surgery. First, congratulations on your transformation and your breast lift procedure—that's a huge accomplishment. You’re absolutely right to focus not only on the surgery itself but also on how to preserve your results over time. Yes, wearing a supportive bra after a breast lift can help delay gravitational sagging, especially in the months and years following surgery. Similarly, when it comes to maintaining the results from procedures like a body lift or tummy tuck, compression garments and supportive shapewear can be helpful—but mostly in the early healing phase. These garments support healing tissues, reduce swelling, improve circulation, and help skin conform to the new contour. For the first 6 to 12 weeks, wearing medical-grade compression consistently is especially important. After that, while it's not necessary to wear compression garments long-term, some patients choose to wear supportive shapewear during physical activity or while traveling to give their tissues extra support. However, it’s important to understand that shapewear and compression garments will not stop the natural aging process or eliminate the effects of gravity and time. Long-term maintenance relies more on your lifestyle choices, including: Stable weight: Rapid weight fluctuations are the number one cause of skin re-stretching after body contouring. Muscle tone: Maintaining strong underlying musculature through weight training can help support your skin from the inside out. Hydration and nutrition: Healthy skin is supported by a nutrient-rich diet with adequate protein, vitamins A, C, E, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids. Sun protection: UV damage can weaken collagen and accelerate skin aging, so daily sunscreen is key, even on areas like the arms and chest. Avoid smoking: Smoking compromises blood flow and collagen production and leads to faster skin degradation over time. Ultimately, surgical tightening will give you a huge head start, but your daily habits are what will maintain those results for the long term. If you're ever unsure about the best garments, exercises, or skincare for post-surgical support, check in with your plastic surgeon or a knowledgeable post-op care provider. If you have any more questions about breast lifts, body lifts, skin removal, or long-term results, please consult with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in post-weight loss body contouring. Look for someone who has performed hundreds of these procedures and can show you clear, consistent before-and-after photos of long-term outcomes.
