Hello, I have consulted with several plastic surgeons who have informed me that my lower abdomen pooch is the accumulation of skin and not of fat. It seems any lipo done in that area would result in the same look. Can I ask if there are any solutions to flatten my lower abdomen? Thank you for your help!

Answer: Tightening Loose Skin of the Abdomen Thank you for your question regarding procedures to tighten excess skin. Thank you for your history and pictures. Regarding your abdomen, you have excess skin and, perhaps more importantly, a weak anterior abdominal wall. This can be seen on your profile view because the abdomen distends, significantly below the belly button. If you have liposuction performed, the abdomen will still distend. Because this is weakened muscle, the best treatment for your abdomen would be a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. During a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty, an incision is placed low, and dissection is done up to the sternum. The rectus abdominis, or six, pack muscles, are sutured together, and the anterior abdominal wall is flattened. Then the excess skin and fat from typically the pubic region to the top of the belly button is removed, and the belly button is relocated. I believe anything short of this procedure; you will still have a protuberant belly from underneath the belly button to the pubic region. Liposuction will probably make it worse because you will eliminate only the fat. Good luck with your tummy tuck.
