5 days ago, i had voluma upper cheek, low temple area. i was swollen and bruised at the injection site. two days later my eye swelled up on the side where i was swollen (i did nothing to my eyes). if i put ice for a few minutes the swelling goes away, but then hours later it returns albeit not as bad. it also makes the eye darker when it swells. what is going on? i
Answer: Eye swelling after Voluma to Cheek Good news -- the swelling and bruising are likely temporary and can most likely be remedied with some ice and head elevation. Rarely, however, the Voluma may drift to around the eye area and remain prominent in an unwanted area. This is more likely to happen if it injected superficially nearby. You had the Voluma injected in 2 places -- the temple and the cheek. It was likely injected deeper in the cheek and more superficially in the temple, which is possibly where the Voluma migrated from... Regardless, as a type of hyaluronic acid, Voluma can be dissolved with Hyaluronidase -- trade name Vitrase or Hyelenex. If you still have an undesired prominence/swelling after the bruising improves (with the icing and head elevation), your physician may inject the Hyaluronidase to dissolve the misplaced Voluma.Make sure your surgeon or dermatologist has significant experience with Voluma. As Voluma is a new filler manufactured by Allergan, most injectors' experiences are limited. I would seek out a plastic surgeon in your area who has extensive experience with injecting cheek fillers and typically performs many facial surgeries, as he/she is thus more likely to be familiar with the anatomy in that area, which can be variable even from one side of the face to the other. I would also ask for a plastic surgeon who took the Allergan Expert Hands-on training course specific for Voluma injection.Good luck.

Answer: Swelling After Voluma Thank you for your question. Bruising and swelling are common side effects and can last few days. The eyes and surrounding area(s) can swell up too even though it wasn’t injected due to gravity pool. Icing the area is helpful for the first 24hours. Avoid vigourous activity if still swollen and bruised. Taking Arnica and Bromelain or pineapple fruit or juice helps speed up the process of bruising and swelling. I hope this helps!

Answer: Why do I have intermittent eye swelling starting 2 days after Voluma? Thank you for your question. Swelling is a common side effect of injections to facial areas and can last approx. 2 weeks. If the swelling does not subside after 2 weeks, follow up with your injector. You may want to consider sleeping with your head slightly elevated and apply cold compresses for 10 mins several times a day to reduce swelling. Best.

Answer: Swelling After Voluma Injections to the Cheek Swelling and bruising after Voluma injections are relatively normal and could last over one week. Voluma is a highly cross linked hyaluronic acid gel filler for cheek and midface rejuvenation. Voluma is placed in at a deeper level than other volumetric fillers like Juvederm. It is more form stable and less foregiving, but also longer lasting than other fillers. Swelling can be intermittent, especially when combined with bruising. Ice packs applied to the area of injection for the first 2 days can help limit swelling and bruising. Intermittent swelling should resolve over the first week.

Answer: Swelling after voluma Injections of Voluma in to the cheek area should not cause swelling of the eye but you also mentioned low temple area. In this area the tissue is thinner so the injections are made less deep. any swelling located here can definitely go towards the eye. Im reassured that with icing it gets better so hopefully this will settle down. The good news is the Voluma is reversible so your doctor could melt it if your problem continues. Good luck.
