Hi! I am 53 years old and in pretty good shape. I eat right, work out regularly, and have fun keeping up with my 25 year old son.... except when I see my face. I don't feel as old as I look and I hate it! The jowls and loose neck skin are my main concern. I have had filler before to the nasolabial folds, but now I feel like it will not address the pull of gravity to my whole lower face. I'm afraid that I will be told "You are not. Ready for a lower facelift because of my age. Thoughts? TY.
Answer: You are ready Age does not matter. Whenever there is enough laxity of skin a lower facelift and necklift will help. It is important to understand that the incisions used for achieving a good result in a necklift also give a nice lift to the lower face and jowls. The purpose of a necklift is to pull the extra skin side ways behind the ears and remove it. It is also sometimes combined with Neck Liposuction and Platysmaplasty. The incision starts in the hair tuft in front of the ear and then curves in front of the ear hidden in natural curves of the ear, then next to the earlobe it goes behind the ear in the hidden groove and finally is taken over to the hairline of the neck. The skin is then lifted to expose the underlying platysma muscle. It is then pulled back and tethered to the bone behind the ear. At this point the jowl area is also pulled back with stitches under the skin in deeper tissues. These maneuvers lead to excess skin on the sides which is then trimmed and stitched back in place. Regards Dr. J

Answer: Facelift Indications An ideal facelift candidate has aging face indications, is healthy, and desires to do something about it. Some patients have all three criteria in their late 40's and others later in life; I see patient s from their 40's up until their 80's regarding these issues. Based on the photos and your concerns, a deep plane facelift would be a very reasonable approach.

Answer: Mini Facelift & Mini neck lift -- FaceTite RF for internal skin tightening + Neck Liposuction for definition/contouring FaceTite can internally tighten the skin in the lower face and neck. After all the skin has been heated and contracted, we shape the neck with liposuction to give definition and remove stubborn pockets of fat. In one quick treatment, we can tighten skin, remove fat, and contour the lower face, jawline, and jowls with only a weekend of downtime. Keep in mind that combination approaches will give you a more significant improvement as opposed to a single procedure. I recommend getting a consultation with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Facelift and Neck Lift Hello, hope you are well. Based on the photo you provided, you would be a great candidate for a face and neck lift. Although age has very little to do with the decision to undergo surgery--your anatomy is what counts--it is not at all uncommon for patients in their 50s to undergo these procedures. It would be helpful to have an in-person consultation or virtual meeting to assess from all angles. Good luck! Best,Dr. Tower

Answer: You look like a great candidate I don't see any reason in your photo to think you would get anything but a great result with a neck or lower face lift. These procedures take about 90 minutes to do, and you can go home the same day. You should expect a nice improvement and your age is absolutely fine.

Answer: HA Filler Nonsurgical Facelifts & Necklifts For Revolumizing, Lifting & Recontouring The Face & Neck The assertion that fillers cannot lift against gravity is as inaccurate as believing that they cannot revolumize the face, treat jowls, recontour the jawline and neck. It is something that experienced cosmetic dermatologist injectors do practically every day in an active practice. Loss of volume in the cheeks is largely responsible for tear troughs and hollows under the eyes, deepening smile lines and even contribute to marionette lines formation at the sides of the mouth and jowls along the jawline. Loss of jawline definition in turn contributes to sagging below on the neck and crepeyness. All of the foregoing can be treated, nonsurgically with various HA fillers. A volumizing HA filler for the cheeks can lift and reposition them, and secondarily improve the under-eyes and smile lines. It can also straighten a and define a jowly jawline. A lifing HA filler can be used to support the sides of the mouth to straighten marionette lines and to pull the sides of the neck upward to straighten and tighten it. I literally performed all the above for my last patient, a male, yesterday. Treatment took 45 minutes and the results are immediate. A low viscosity, cohesive malleable HA filler can further improve tear troughs and under-eye hollows and also further help to smooth the central area of the neck. In short, you would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist. But since these injection techniques are advanced ones (and not simply, as most inexperienced injectors typically do, just using a filler directly into the smile lines), you should make sure to ask to see his/.her befores and afters prior to agreeing to proceed. So, don't despair Just make sure to see the right doc. Best of luck.
