The exact amount of time that a patient drains varies by patient. Usually drainage can persist for a few days, depending on the extent of your surgery.
Drainage is usually the worst 24-48 hours after liposuction and does depend on how much tumescent fluid was used, and how much liposuction you had. I often recommend to my patients to use old sheets or towels for the first couple days on the bed while sleeping or resting.
This can occur for many days to weeks post liposuction but typically resolves in a few days depending how aggressive the procedure or if drains are placed. Best, Dr. Emer.
Good question. I suture my incisions so there will be little, or no drainage, and cover them with a steri strip. Of course, you may have a little oozing from the incision area, not much though. If you are draining from your incisions after 24 hours, I would consult your surgeon.Good luck
Most entry points after liposuction are sealed and 48 hours. This may take longer if the procedure was assisted by a laser as the thermal damage can prolong drainage.
Most drainage after liposuction subsides within 24 hours of the procedure. The drainage is not harmful and diaper like dressings are typically placed at the time of surgery to soak up the residual fluid.
Incisions that are left open to drain after liposuction will usually stop draining anywhere from one day to several days after the procedure. I don't suture incisions because fluid that drains out is less that your body has to absorb and process. Allowing fluid to drain also helps to clear out residual red blood cells that have spilled into the fat space faster than just your body's normal metabolic processes.
There are different thoughts about entry incisions for liposuction, and regardless of the type of liposuction, laser, tumescent, whatever, we have carefully closed and sealed all incisions for over twenty years now. The is no drainage, period. Our belief is that an open wound that drains is an infection risk. Talk to your surgeon about his practice and get his advice, and appropriate wound measures are soap and water cleaning and a good dressing to prevent a problem and good followup with your surgeon.
Hi, thank you for your question. We know that drains after surgery may be somewhat uncomfortable , but they must be left to do their job . Its usually that after liposuction the drainge job ends in about 5-6 days when they produce less than 50 cc in 24 hours. I hope this clears your doubts. Have happy day .
This varies depending on how much tumescent was placed at the time of lipo and how much was sucked out as part of the lipoaspirate. Some PS leave the small incisions open to help let more drain out while others place a suture. It is not abnormal to drain for a few days following surgery.
Liposuction of your mons pubis can help reduce the fat pad you describe. Liposuction is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, so you will be able to go home shortly after your procedure. You can also include liposuction of the mons pubis in a tummy tuck, which will help contour your...
Your plastic surgeon should have someone backing him or her up to take care of potential complications after surgery.I would contact your plastic surgeon and ask him or her to refer you to a colleague.Aspirating your own seroma is highly inappropriate. It is not something I would do myself nor...
Without examination it's impossible to comment on your specific situation. In my experience liposuction of the Mons area generally leads a very good result with no skin removal.
