I have a gummy smile and I know there are a few ways to fix. What's the best option? (Photos)

Botox is a simple, easy and safe short term treatment to improve your gummy smile. Frenectomy will not improve your gummy smile and will probably make it worse. The same with fillers. A permanent solution can be achieved with a simple surgical procedure performed on the underside of your lip with local anesthesia. Good luck

Botox can be used to improve a gummy smile. Botox results resolve in 3-4 months. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Thanks for the question.  I would try Botox in this area.  From the pictures, it is not an easy case but it doesn't take much Botox so it is worth a try.  Botox in this area particular requires someone who has experience injecting in this area so please ask their experience level before going and committing.

Thank you for including your pictures. If your frenulum is tethering the upper lip and keeping in from dropping down, it may need to be released, it is not possible to tell without an examination. You have outlined the simplest and most effective treatment options: botox/dysport and filler. I would recommend starting with botox/dysport to the lip elevators and see how that turns out.

I would use a combination of lip fillers and Botox. You would need a very small amount of Botox just obove your central upper lip to remove that fold while smiling. Then use filler to volumize your upper lip to help hide your gums. I’m not sure that your frenulum is contributing to your smile but without examining it in person I couldn’t be sure. Good luck!

Based on your photos Botox would be a great place to start. This treatment is done in the office with final results seen after two weeks. The effects will fade gradually over three to four months. This is a "quick fix" to address your concerns and if you like the results it can be easily repeated.

Hello and thank you for your question. I suggest you start with a simple Botox treatment. Injection of 2 units into the levator superioris alaeque can relax your upper lip enough to prevent your gum showing. The added benefit of softening your Nasal Labial Folds is a bonus. It is always best to start with the least invasive method and then work your way up to a surgical intervention if necessary.  In this circumstance, a gummy smile can be treated by Botox.  There is a muscle near your nostrils called the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi.  Placing 2-3 units of botox into these muscle often times does the trick of correcting the gummy smile.
