Thank you for your question and sharing your photographs, as it is very helpful. Unfortunately, the only thing to do at this point is to allow time for the Botox to wear off. If one injects an injectable filler into your upper lip it will only add volume and make the lip appear more prominent. I would also suggest scheduling a follow-up visit with your board certified plastic surgeon to make him/her aware of your outcome following treatment. That way, your board certified plastic surgeon can adjust his formula if you were to ever have this treatment performed again. Good luck! 

Botox is a great treatment for gummy smile.  In your case it looks like too much botox might have been used.  Good news is the botox will wear off.  Fillers are a great choice as well for gummy smile.

Thank you for your question and for sharing your experience and photos.  It sounds like you had too strong a response from the Botox.  The most prudent course, unfortunately, would be to wait it out.  When I approach a patient with a gummy smile, I tend to use very conservative doses to make sure that I don't overcorrect.  It is much safer to add a little more in a couple weeks time to reach the desired degree of correction.  You should find that with time, you will get the desired degree of gummy smile correction since your Botox will be wearing down.  It would be helpful to know what dose and which muscles were targeted.  I would also keep track of how long it took to get from over-corrected to the desired level of correction.  This would help optimize your dose for the future.

It sounds all great but it is not at all good.  The treatment is freezing and dropping muscles that you absolutely need to have working.  It is extremely dysphoric and debilitating to have these muscles frozen with botox.  Unfortunately it will take months for this effect to wear off.

I'm sorry you are unhappy with your Botox treatment. The results are temporary and your smile should return to your previous look gradually over the next few months. Adding fillers will add volume and help shape the lip but I don't think it will achieve what you are hoping. Visit with your injector to discuss your concerns.

The amount of toxin required for a gummy smile is very little as this is a very effective treatment with very little toxin. I would advise waiting until it wears off and halving the amount used in future treatments. I would not advise lip fillers at this stage. 

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry to hear the results were not as expected.  My advice is to wait until the botox wears off adding lip filler will complicate the situation at this point and I don't think it will give you the result you want.   It appears that too strong a dose of botox was used to treat your gummy smile.  I always start with a low dose 1-2 units per side and have the patient follow up in two weeks to reassess.  You can always add a little more  Botox but can't take it away.    Hope this helps.

purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. In the lower face a small amount of Botox can be placed at the sides of the nostrils to address the gummy smile. Only a small amount (2-4 units per side) is necessary. If too high a dose is used such side effects are possible. A lower dose may be used at the next treatment. Please consult

Botox actually works to treat gummy smile by lengthening the upper lip but this went too far, which is not unusual. The prudent thing to do is to let it wear off and not get lip enhancement as it won't look right. Next time be sure you tell your doctor so that a smaller dose can be used

Sorry to see your outcome. his was a wild gamble to rely on Botox in your situation whereas there some more proven ways to address gummy smile such as mild gum surgery with or without porcelain veneers. The good news is that the effect of Botulinum toxin will wear off in a few months, but at this point I would NOT recommend any other treatment for it might bring even more problems. Just wait and watch.
