Does everyone get a weird sensation in their upper lip after Botox to correct a gummy smile? (Photos)

Since you appear to have had a nice improvement in your gummy smile despite not having any unusual sensations, I would take that as a success and enjoy your result. Hello, this is a beautiful result five days out! You did not need to feel a “funny feeling” in order to achieve optimal results. As injectors, we advise the risk of a different sensation because we are reducing muscular movement to this area when injecting Botox. Some people have a heightened susceptibility to this, while others have no effects. Six units is an adequate dose and by the looks of the photo, you achieved a great clinical outcome.

Your results look great so far and I do not think you'll need or want to do more. And yes, you're right, give it the 2 weeks to assess. You do not need a weird feeling or a different feeling to mean it is working. Ideally Botox will not make anything or your smile feel different. It is just relaxing the pull of those muscles to allow your upper lip to not come up as much when you smile.

Sensations can be variable and it can take 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. If you're unhappy with your final results, venus legacy can soften results or additional botox can give more improvement for a gummy smile. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Your results look great! While it’s possible to have a “weird” sensation following Botox injections to correct a gummy smile, in my experience, this side effect is the exception rather than rule. A lack of side effects does not mean that the Botox is not working, as demonstrated by the improvement in your after photo. The full effects will be visible in two weeks, at which time your doctor can determine whether a slight adjustment is needed. Good luck to you!

Hi there, your results after 5 days looks fantastic and not everyone gets an odd sensation.  If you look at your gum show it is significantly decreased, therefore much better. You do not want to do too much and flatten your smile.  Good luck. Dr. Downie

I have not had patients have a weird sensation after treatment for a gummy smile so dont be concerned. the fact that you see the lip getting longer is an indication it is going to work fine

it is by far not many people who have weird Sensations after administration of Botox for a gummy smile, so what you're feeling is absolutely normal and I'm sure that your Botox has begun to work. Good luck from New York City

Since it is day 5, it is too early to judge the final result. However, most of my patients don't describe any unusual sensations.
