When I am not smiling my upper lip seems offcenter, my left side of my upper lip seems almost short and not quite full enough. What would be more beneficial to correct this offcenteredness and my slightly gummy smile: Botox for my upper lip muscles to not pull so much, or juvederm to plump my upper lip more so it covers my gums and balanced out?

Answer: LIPS ASYMMETRY You have an asymmetry on your face and it is maybe more noticeable on your lips. The Botox will not correct the asymmetry, a hyaluronic acid filler will be better to give you more volume on the upper lips, so the gummy smile is corrected and in the lower lip, more in the right side to balance the lips, but your left side will still be a little longer and lower than the right side.

Answer: Botox is a very bad idea. Botox injections are not precisely enough to control the shape of the lip. But it is more than capable of causing unwanted mouth weakness that will look like and make you feel like you had a stroke. Juvederm is absolutely the wrong filler for this location in my opinion. The so-called smooth fillers like Juvederm are runny and tend to drift after placement. That prevents bumps but it also prevents the product from holding in place. This is why people end up with a lip shelf. You need an artful injector. I recommend Restylane for this location.
