They have always been like this. The left one (small) has grown some but not a lot. I'm 19 years old. Can it be fixed and look natural? How much would it cost? Should I do an implant or reduction? What is the recovery time / after surgery side affects? Thanks.
Answer: Correcting Asymmetrical Breasts Thank you very much for your question and photographs. Breast asymmetry is common; however some cases are more extreme than others. An experienced plastic surgeon will be able to help you achieve breast asymmetry, more than likely combining a reduction/breast lift on the right side, with the placement of implants. Different size implants can help to achieve symmetrical shape and fullness. I recommend finding a board certified plastic surgeon in your area, with experience in breast augmentation procedures, then scheduling an in-person consultation. At this time, he/she will perform a physical exam, assess your breast tissue, and discuss your aesthetic goals, determining the best technique for achieving the desired shape, size, and symmetry.

Answer: Things to consider for correction of asymmetrical breasts Breast asymmetry involves several things: Nipple position, volume, tightness of the skin envelope, degree of sagging, etc. Your right breast will need a reduction/lift. If you are happy with the size of the left one, then the right breast lift is all you need. You might consider an implant on the left, and the amount of reduction on the right would be adjusted to match.

Answer: Uneven Breasts Asymmetries of the breasts occur in almost every woman and range from almost unnoticeably to subtle to more pronounced cases. However, if this asymmetry is something that greatly concerns you, it's possible to improve this through a breast augmentation or reduction surgery. Whichever approach you choose depends on your specific goals. If this is something you're interested in, I would recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a highly qualified, board of certified plastic surgeon to further discuss your treatment options. Good luck!

Answer: Improving Breast Symmetry Thank you for the question and for posting pictures. You do demonstrate quite a bit of asymmetry with regards to breast size and nipple location. This can be improved quite a bit. However, a few things should be kept in mind for patients with large size discrepancies. First is to seek an in person consultation with a board certified or board eligible plastic surgeon. Next, is to make sure the breast has stopped growing in size. If there is no significant size change in over a year then the breast is likely done growing. Most surgeons would not recommend a procedure until the breasts have stopped growing. Finally, an appropriate history and physical examination should be done to ensure there isn't some sort of disease process occurring. This is unlikely unless there is a rapid growth in the size of one breast and/or there is an abnormal physical examination (i.e. breast masses, skin changes). Assuming all these are negative, a patient would then need to have a discussion with her surgeon regarding her goals of treatment. In your case, you would need to decide if your primary goal is symmetry or symmetry and volume. If your primary goal is symmetry then you may be able to get reasonable symmetry with a right sided breast reduction alone. If your goal is symmetry and also larger volume than you currently have on the left, then you may need to consider a left sided breast implant and a right sided lift/reduction. You should also keep in mind that this may require multiple surgeries to accomplish. Again, an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon will allow you to receive appropriate medical advice.
