Uneven Breast Reconstruction Pro

Procedure done:
en bloc capsulectomy, mastopexy, mammoplasty + fat transfer breast augmentation

You'd think the easiest thing to do would be to find a great breast reconstruction doctor in Los Angeles, the city of perfect breasts but I had a very hard time finding doctors that would listen, and didn't make me uncomfortable.

I've struggled with congenital tuberous breast deformity with EXTREME uneveness since I was 14 and had undergone multiple unsuccessful surgeries, including breast reductions, implants, and mastopexy. I was desperate for a solution that would address my painful uneven breasts without the weight, pain, and maintenance of implants.

After consulting with several surgeons in the South Bay of Los Angeles, and around Orange county and Beverly Hills, I was disheartened by their dismissive attitudes and pushy sales tactics. They seemed more interested in upselling secondary procedures than addressing my specific needs.

After months of research, I met Dr. Diaz. He was incredibly patient, understanding, and knowledgeable about breast reconstruction. Unlike the others, he didn't try to force implants on me. Instead, he explained the benefits of a more natural approach using fat grafting, mammoplasty, and mastopexy. Surgeries that require skill and time that unlike the implant-only doctors seem to want to avoid.

I'm now four days post-surgery, and I'm already feeling a sense of relief and hope. It already looks incredible even bruised and stitched up, the pain is minimal, and I'm incredibly grateful for Dr. Diaz's expertise and compassionate care.

As a note, I can't use narcotics because of a worry of an autoimmune disease flare-up, and am just on extra strength Tylenol and the pain has been bearable. So if you're needing breast reconstruction and can't use narcotic pain relievers, this is doable!

If you're struggling with extremely uneven breasts, I highly recommend Dr. Diaz. He's a true expert in breast reconstruction, and he'll work with you to find the best solution for your individual needs, not the easiest surgery for him to do, he's an artisan.

Here's how I chose my breast surgeon:

1. Check a lot of 3rd party reviews, "doesn't listen to patient" is a red flag:

2. Has alternatives to implants for breast reconstruction:

Implants aren't always bad, but you need to replace them every 10 or so years and do you want to do that at 60? 70? A skilled breast surgeon has options.

3. Are they treating you like a patient or being dismissive?
Cosmetic surgery for congenital defects or for breast issues from cancer treatments can be very psychologically damaging and we're sensitive and exhausted. Insensitive doctors are the WORST.

If the surgeon is treating it like you're a vain idiot trying to get a mole removed and being rude and dismissive, walk out. But they should be honest too, a good doctor tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear just to make a sale.

Dr. Diaz understands congenital defects and my guess is he's also incredibly good with purely cosmetic issues too, he takes it seriously.

4 Cost: While the mastopexy and mammoplasty were out of the scope of my insurance, the implants explant weren't, and Dr. Diaz's office submitted it to my insurance for me.

My local surgeons said to me directly "we don't touch your insurance, you do that on your own"

As a note, two of the explant / implants quotes I received from the local cosmetic surgeons were about what Dr. Diaz charged for a much more skilled and professional surgery.

So if you're feeling lost and hopeless and feeling like you have no hope but to go through life with huge saline or silicone filled breast with absolutely unnatural cleavage, you don't.

Go to Dr. Diaz, get real breasts.

They'll have scars that will heal, but they'll look and feel free and real and like your own real breasts.

And if you have had severe tuberous breast deformity and different surgeries to correct that didn't really work, you won't believe you can be this happy about even bruised and stitched up breasts.

I had an augmentation + circumariolar lift 3 days ago. I originally booked & paid for a full anchor lift (per Dr. Diaz's recommendation) + highly cohesive implants for the best upper-pole fullness.

His office assistant, Patti, corresponded with me non-stop (sometimes) regarding every question you could think of. Sometimes, she would have the doctor answer my email questions because of the type of question. My experience with Patti and everything leading up to surgery day felt perfect. Dr. Diaz called me 5 days before surgery because we hadn't totally determined the size (and that made me nervous). He didn't act annoyed or anything regarding my size questions that he literally already answered 5 months prior at our initial consult. He reminded me of a super patient kind teacher. Anyway....



Surgery day went at a good pace. Dr. Diaz marked me up prior to surgery and answered any last-minute questions. The anestigiolist was super nice along with the nurses. I never felt rushed. I actually started crying right before I went under because I was just scared. His nurses and anestigiolist were so kind in reassuring me. There were no other patients present. It did not feel like a "puppy-mill" situation that I've read about on RealSelf where the doctor is doing like 6-8 surgeries a day.



After the surgery, my husband said Diaz talked with him for awhile regarding how things went, etc. My husband said that initially he was called around 4:30pm that I was close to being done. However, Dr. Diaz ended up taking another 1.5 hrs on me to ensure my results were flawless, matched my body, etc. He says he's meticulous in his videos. We experienced him being meticulous during my surgery. I'm always watching if people DO what they SAY they'll do. Dr. Diaz is not lying or exaggerating in his YouTube videos, etc. He really does almost obsess over perfect results. Frankly, I would've paid more for such a great doctor.



I ended up not needing the anchor lift due to the implant I chose (high profile highly cohesive implant). Dr. Diaz said he'll refund me the money for the extra lift I paid for. Great! We originally planned for 450cc. He said he tried 450cc then 415cc, they were both too tight. Finally, he settled on 345cc in one and 365cc in the other breast due to my asymmetry. I loved all his Instagram photos, etc. of how his patients only have about 300cc-390(ish) cc. These Miami and Vegas doctors brag about using 500cc+. They also have TONS of complications in their online reviews. I just knew from researching Dr. Diaz, that he would not put in an implant that was unsafe and/or didn't match my body. Again, proof he does what he says he'll do.



I have hardly any bruising. I'm actually shocked. I thought I'd have at least a small amount of bruising. Today, the 3rd day post-op, I saw bruising for the first time. It's a tiny amount that must've finally settled. From the research I've done, bruising can increase chances of capsular contractor, so I'm just so happy that I don't have bruising. I've included a pic of my bruise.



One breast is still higher than the other which is normal. However, even over just 3 days, it has dropped a bit. I'm unsure if it's the implant actually dropping or if it's just swelling decreasing. I see Dr. Diaz in 2 days, so he can tell me more. I'm not worried about it though. I know everything will look great in a few weeks to a few months. I already love my new chest!

I went for a walk around the block yesterday. I've noticed I'm bloated big time. I've gained 11lbs from pre-op to post-op. Considering every gained pound is approximately 3,500 excess calories, there's NO WAY I've gained so much weight in 5 days. It will just take time for my body to pass all the fluid. I still love my results. I'm so glad I "invested" in a high-quality doctor. I'm definitely booking a tummy-tuck with Dr. Diaz next year. I cannot handle a mommy makeover in one sesh. I know it's more expensive to do both procedures separate, but again, I'm crazy scared about complications and I couldn't imagine trying to baby my new boobs while tending to a tummy tuck incision, etc.

I had my first follow-up appointment yesterday. When the nurse changed my tape, I saw my areolas for the first time since surgery. Ladies!! I have the cutest areolas in the state of California, at least, perhaps in the entire country! We all know the struggle is real--areolas the size of large sand dollars (or larger). Ugh. Now, my areolas are the size of quarters, perhaps slightly smaller, and perfectly shaped circles. Like....IDK, maybe Dr. Diaz was an art major prior to switching to plastic surgery. My boobs/areolas remind me of Holly Madison's from the Hugh Hefner show years ago (she was one of 3 of Hefner's gf's during the show). So yeah....my areolas are *winning*.

My right breast is still sitting higher than the left. Dr. Diaz said it will take time to settle and that I cannot massage my breasts (yet) because my lift incisions need to heal first. I'm good with that.

I included pics of the bras I purchased before surgery. The bra Dr. Diaz provided was OK, but after 1 day, my ribcage needed a break to something softer. The pics I included are two types I bought and I love them. Sometimes, the longline bra was not enough support and my nipple would start hurting, so I switched back to the zip-up sports bra or the one Dr. Diaz provided. I just wasn't about to buy expensive bras I'm only going to wear for 1-3 months. I was originally a 34-35A. Recall, I have 345 CC & 365 CC in my breasts. I guessed and purchased XL (I think) in the bras from Walmart. I probably could've gotten a Large in the zip-up bra, but the girls feel good in the XL so whatev...

One side note--you don't need 100,000 button-up shirts. I bought two and only used one for the first 24 hrs. Even on day 2+ you can put on a spaghetti strap tank top that's approximately 2 sizes too big for you. For instance, I wear a s/m top before surgery. I used XL & 2XL spaghetti strap tanks from my fat days to live in days 2+ from surgery. They just looked cuter and weren't as hot as the button shirts. I will post an update in 1 month (ish).

It has taken me some time to gather the words to write a review for Dr. Diaz but, for all the right reasons. I underwent a breast augmentation in late December 2023 and since then, I have not been the same person. I am so much more confident! One of my biggest insecurities is now one of my favorite things about myself, all thanks to Dr. Diaz. I had mentioned to a friend that it was a dream of mine to get a breast augmentation. It was a lot of trust to put in someone, but I am so glad I did. Fast-forward, to surgery day! The surgery itself was SO quick and the first day was painless, as I was high on anesthesia. The recovery process was a bit rough for me because I ended up getting the flu the day after my surgery. But everything was so worth it. Here we are 3 months post-op and I don’t have a single complaint. His work truly speaks for itself. I am speechless with the results, Dr. Diaz gave me. He is a man of wisdom, skill, and talent. If you are looking for a highly credible/ knowledgeable plastic surgeon who will go above and beyond to not just meet but, exceed your goals, I highly recommend Dr. John Diaz. And as much as I want to give all the credit to just him, he has a wonderful team to back him to make the entire process a breeze.

I had my breast augmentation done with Dr. Diaz and I could not be any happier with the whole process. Since I reside in Hawaii, I didn't meet Dr. Diaz in person for the initial consultation but he made me feel very comfortable and confident over the phone to get the procedure done in LA. Once I got to LA and met him for the first time in person right before the procedure, he took his time and went over the process including the right breast size for me using the high tech system. This made me feel confident about the procedure and I felt less anxious. His whole team are friendly and professional and they follow up many times after the procedure to make sure things are fine. I highly recommend Dr. Diaz if you are considering a breast augmentation.

Dr. Diaz is simply the best in Breast Augmentation, and explant surgery. I was referred to Dr. Diaz back in 2013 when I was looking to fill out a bit. I explained that I wasn't looking to go bigger and he understood exactly what I was looking for. I received exactly what I asked for. No one could tell I had an augmentation, they were 100% natural looking and the scar was unidentifiable. Meticulous stitching.

A lot has changed for me in the last 10 years and last year I started to think about removing my implants. Just a personal decision that fit more with my current lifestyle. There was no question on who I would go to for this! Once again, Dr. Diaz performed a perfect surgery, used the same unidentifiable scar line to remove the implants and my result is phenomenal. My scars are healing nicely and within the next 3 months or so ( i had surgery in Feb) they too will be unidentifiable.

In addition to his talent as a surgeon, he has the most warm and welcoming personality. His team/office staff are lovely and the OR is in his Beverly Hills office, so convenient. I Have recommended Dr. Diaz in the past and I am still recommending him!!!!!!
