While most fillers work well for tear troughs/under eyes, choosing the best option for you depends on your skin type, volume loss, etc. Juvederm is also thick and may swell that delicate area more than we want. Again, it depends on how deep your eye area is and how thin the skin is. Consult with a board certified dermatologist/plastic surgeon to choose what’s best for your scenario.

In my opinion a filler with a lower G prime or "hardness", like Belotero or Restalyne Silk, is preferred for precise injection into the thin-skinned area of the under eye hollow or tear trough.

There are a number of different skin filler options for under the eyes. My preferred is a combination of Juvederm Voluma and Juvederm Volbella. Often some the depth is loss of fat pads over the cheek bone. By replacing that fullness with Voluma most of the depth under the eyes is reduced. Voluma lasts for about 2 years. Volbella is the newest product in the Juvederm line. It flows like honey and is an ideal filler for the thin-skinned under eye area. It can last for about a year. 

I prefer belotero and restylane for tear troughs. It is also important to find a reputable injector.

I prefer Volbella or Restylane or Belotero for the under eye area.  Juvederm is too thick and swells too much for this delicate area.  It also depends on how deep the eye area is and how thin the skin is.  I often combine eMatrix with the special eye tip for wrinkles to help treat this area.  Please consult an expert in eye rejuvenation and fillers.  Best, Dr. Green

Thank you for this inquiry. Both of these hyaluronic acid based products are used at my clinic and would work well for tear troughs/under eyes . An evaluation is required to determine which one would be best suited for you.
