I’m starting to get serious about taking the next steps to get a BBL. I’ve worked out for four years. Ate right. I actually got really good at it. But unfortunately my genetics call for narraw hips and hip dips. I want a natural bbl. But I’m scared of all the deaths. Most cases I see the people traveled outside of the US. What’s your thoughts?
Answer: Travel abroad for a BBL why still not a good idea Hello, thank you for your question. Yes in short overall there are safer practices of BBLs performed in 2022 however it doesn't mean every surgical place is safer. The issue with traveling for BBL is you don't actually know if what you signed up for is legitimate until you get there officially. Even if the surgeon is truly a plastic surgeon and even if surgery goes well, you will still have worry about post operative complications. If in the event something happens you after post operative complication such as infection then it is difficult to go back and forth to return to that physician. Of course you can go to your local ED but if revisions need to be made another trip would take place. Essentially it more costly to you in the event you do have to travel back and forth.

Answer: Selecting a Plastic Surgeon for your BBL Thanks for your question. To make your BBL experience as safe as possible, I recommended doing extensive research on the surgeons you are interested in. Make sure they're a board certified plastic surgeon, perform ultrasound guided fat transfer, have extensive experience with the BBL procedure, have many before and after photos of the procedure, and have clean credentials. I also suggest scheduling a consult to discuss any questions and concerns. Hope this helps. Take care, Moises Salama MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Are BBLs safer in 2022? Hello @Nice4671, thank you for your question. BBLs are always in safe and experienced hands; if a good preoperative period has been completed starting with the consultation is better. Prepare your consultation by asking who is the specialist? What is her or his experience? What type of technique and technology does he or she employ? Where will the procedure take place? What tests must be performed before the procedure? Additionally, it is critical to ask whether the clinic has all the permits that are needed to be able to function. This is in addition to all the necessary arrangements in case of any emergency. It's important to not skip the steps to avoid complications. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.

Answer: BBL candidate Dear Nice4671, BBL is a safe procedure. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: BBL risks BBL's remain the highest risk elective plastic surgical procedures performed. While they are much safer than years ago (with restrictions placed on both volume of fat removed and placement of fat above the muscle), they are still fraught with complications of infection, fat necrosis and even death (rare in recent years). They remain my number one procedure performed as with many other board certified plastic surgeons. I would not consider leaving the country for a discounted procedure as the rules and regulations are much more lax outside the United States. Follow ups for any complications would be exceedingly difficult as well. Dr. Taranow
