Love my results so much that I had to go back for another procedure. I had a Tummy Tuck and arm liposuction done on September/26/2023. I couldn’t be more happier, I can already see my arms are so much smaller and my stomach, I can see all that extra fat is removed and I’m only 12 days post op. The day of surgery let me tell you I was nervous but Dr T is so cool, calm and collective it will make you feel right at home. Dr T recommended exparel which numbs your stomach 72 hours (3days) after surgery I felt no pain at all. I was able to eat really good I was so hungry lol. A couple days later I would say standing up for to long can be a challenge because being in a hunched over position can cause back pain. So it’s best to get up and walk around a couple times a day just for 15 minutes. At 7 days post op I was able to get my drain taken out and let me tell you I was so happy about that because it was hard to wash up with that thing in. Today makes 13 days post op and I can’t wait until all the swelling goes down so I can see my finally results. I wish I would have been got this done if only I would have met Dr.Taranow earlier.
I’ve been back and forth on my experience here and what I would rate it. In the end I am saying it’s prob somewhere between 3-4 stars. You get what you pay for. My other consultations were more pricey than this one, which actually concerned me, but I loved Dr Taranows energy so much that I just trusted him and wanted to go with him. The procedure went smoothly and I felt totally comfortable day off. After my procedure Dr T answered all my texts and was super helpful in the early stages. In the later stages I kinda felt like he didn’t even remember who I was and the girls at the desk weren’t great at being responsive. Dr T also advises you wear your compression garments for WAY less time than anyone else out there. And that’s NOT a good idea. And scary that he encourages that. I look AMAZING at first glance. But I have ripples in my stomach when I stretch. Dr T basically told me the ripples were from fibrosis which isn’t his fault and some people just heal that way. I am spending thousands of dollars at an after care clinic fixing the fibrosis and they told me the ripples actually just mean he didn’t put the cannula deep enough and that it is 100% his fault. I’m pretty sad. $10K with him. Another $3k on after care with no end in sight because I’ll do anything to look normal (though they don’t know if the ripples will even go away). I’m a girl who loves to put her arms in the air and stretch and dance. Now I can’t do that in a bathing suit. Defeating the whole purpose of my surgery. I don’t not reccomend dr T. He’s wonderful and for the most part did a good job. But If I could do it again I’d go somewhere different.
(WILL ADD BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS ONCE FULLY RECOVERED)I am 37, and have had 3 children, so My stomach has really gone through the ringer. After doing a Few consultations I just knew those doctors would not give me the Natural but defined results I was looking for so, I kept looking. My sister told me about the Realself website, I found Dr. Taranows profile on Realself and honestly his before and after results looked AMAZING! Booking the consultation with Bea was personable, fast fun and friendly. Once I got to the office for the actual consult I just felt I was in the right hands. The office is clean a discreet, and you are treated well the moment you enter the door.as soon as I walked in the office with Dr. Taranow I knew I was in the presence of a seasoned professional. Not only was he knowledgeable but he was most of all honest not to mention Filled with jokes !. Surgery day was ontime, organized and stress free. My nurse was the absolute best ! She took such great care of me before and after my procedure, she is so sweet. The office was always reachable by phone after my procedure. my recovery is easier than I imagined. My results so far look GREAT! my stomach though still swollen looks Good my flanks as well. I'm just so excited about my results thus far I can only imagine the final results. I cannot thank Dr Taranow and his staff enough theis is really a great life changing expirence for me and I'm grateful to have him as my surgeon.
From beginning to end; consult to post-op, Dr. Taranow and his staff were extremely professional, accommodating, and caring. I always felt comfortable while in his care. His knowledge and experience is far beyond other plastic surgeons, which is evidenced by his before and after pictures on his website and happy patients like myself.
I found Dr. Taranow on real self and scheduled a free consultation for liposuction. Dr. T is very knowledgeable, approachable, and very personable. The exam was very thorough and he gave me honest and realistic expectations. I never felt like I was rushed or persuaded into anything. I came back a few weeks later for a second consultation and that’s we went over the procedure in detail and any questions or concerns I had. I signed all the paperwork and gave my deposit. Everything was smooth sailing. His surgical coordinator Bea is amazing. Anytime I called with a question I never felt like I was being rushed at all. Bea is so sweet and very knowledgeable in this area so she always reassured me. The day of my surgery Dr T was amazing! He knew how terrified I was of the anesthesia (more so than the surgery itself) and he made me feel so calm and made me laugh to take my mind off of things. The anesthesiologist was extremely sweet and also had amazing bedside manner. Dr. T held my hand the whole time while the anesthesiologist was setting up my IV. The next thing I remember was waking up covered in a warm blanket. I was probably in recovery for about an hour, maybe less. Dr. T and Bea monitored my vitals while also giving me soda and crackers until I was ready to go. When I got home I rested most of the day but I also did get up and walk around from time to time. Dr T called me that night to check on me and he called me the following day as well. He provides patients with his cell number so you could also reach out with any concerns. I’m about 5 weeks out now. I still have swelling which is normal and expected, but I am loving my results. I will try to upload some pics. Side note: if you’re someone like me who suffers from low blood pressure, vasovagal, orthostatic hypotension/intolerance I cannot stress this enough please stay hydrated if you decide to have surgery. I am prone to this but after the surgery it was 10xworse! I felt like I was gonna faint every time I got up and it was because I wasn’t hydrating enough.
Let me preface by saying, I had lipo 360 a year ago with a different plastic surgeon in NYC. My lipo experiences were night and day, and I wish I'd found Dr. Taranow sooner. He's board certified with nearly 30 years of experience. Dr. Taranow delivered impeccable bedside manner with reasonable rates; especially considering the standard of care that he and his staff provides. He's truly a gem of a plastic surgeon and it reflects in his practice. He went above and beyond my expectations and the experience so far has been seamless, pain free and comfortable. Firstly, Dr. Taranow was very approachable, understanding and REAL about what I could expect. He took his time to explain everything in detail and I never felt pressured into anything. Our first consult was almost an hour long. He never rushed me. I had two consults with him, and each time, he was understanding and approachable. Not once did I feel like I was a bother. He didn't oversell, either. He forewarned me that I'd experience post-operative pain, but I'm still here, scratching my head because the pain is MINIMAL at best. (I'm now editing this review the morning after the procedure, and still, the pain is VERY minimal AND I have an appetite. If I'm laying down, I have ZERO pain at all. I'm recovering with ease and I can't BELIEVE I feel THIS good after lipo 360!) I was prepared for vomiting, nausea and pain because that's what I experienced beforehand with a different surgeon. There's no blood, which is shocking to me, because the last time I had this exact procedure done with a different surgeon, my bed looked like a crime scene when I woke up. l was leaking for 3 days. Literally, not one drop of blood this time around with Dr. Taranow!I read every review of Dr. Taranow, and the reoccurring theme seems to be "minimal pain and easy recovery," but I thought that was impossible because of my last experience. I thought for sure these patients were overplaying it a bit; either to validate their decision to get work done, or possibly, they were offered a gift card in exchange for a positive review; only because that's what my last surgeon did. I couldn't have been more wrong! Dr. Taranow is the real deal and it's TRUE: Easy and pain free recovery. Coming from someone with a very low tolerance for pain, believe me when I say, this is totally doable. So far, so good!At two hours post-op I was home already eating and walking with ease! (What?! How is this possible?) He also called me directly to check up on me. I thought that was so sweet and it made me feel at ease. He personally just called me again the morning after. I was able to eat toast, cottage cheese and a handful of frozen grapes without issue. Last time I had lipo, I couldn't eat for three days and when I did, I had severe pain in the abdomen with nausea to the point of vomiting and tears. It was extremely painful to walk around the the first 4-5 days. I was bedridden. This time around, with Dr. Taranow, I'm up, walking around, full appetite and I feel perfectly FINE!If you are scared about local or general anesthesia like I was, DON'T be scared!!! If I can do it, you can do it. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain and I have minimal pain! He really makes you feel comfortable! All they did was start an IV, and before I could realize it, I was completely out. I don't remember a thing, I was completely sedated and they didn't even have to stick a tube all the way down my throat. Dr. Taranow uses a different method where the tube stays higher up in the throat (or is it the esophagus?) either way...you are in good hands and won't feel or remember anything. I wanted to mention the anesthesia process because I read some women stating in lipo Facebook groups that he doesn't offer general anesthesia. That would make me think I'm awake for the procedure and that's absolutely what I didn't want. While it's considered "local" with IV sedation, rest assured you will have absolutely no memory or pain during the procedure. You are sleeping and out cold. I remember the IV going in, a mask going over my nose and mouth, and after that, I was sleeping. No recollection, no pain, completely OUT. I just remember waking up to him and his smiling staff. I was ***smiling*** after the procedure! The last time I did lipo under general, I woke up alone in a recovery room, shivering cold, teeth chattering and scared. I really enjoyed this experience compared to the last.I am very happy to have found Dr. Taranow. I'm having a calve fat-transfer with revision to my arms and medial thigh lipo as soon as I'm healed up and ready. With the post-op experience I'm presently having, I am 100% confident my results will be what I was looking for all along, and am very excited to have him as my plastic surgeon! I see how this can become addicting when you are able to have a positive experience and outcome. I haven't removed my faja yet, but I can see my figure has improved. I am definitely swollen but I'll take swollen over pain and vomiting any day!I'll keep you updated and share before and afters with a YouTube video to follow! Some background on my last lipo 360 experience with a different surgeon for context: Long story short, with my old surgeon, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months post-op, I voiced my concerns at appointments but was met with, "You're just swollen, that'll go away," which turned into "that's just the shape of your body," "that's not something I could have changed," OR "It was already like that." Each time I voiced concerns I was met with resistance and denial. I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing a revision with my old surgeon because I wasn't happy with the results. In addition to lipo 360, I had my arms done with uneven work and a pocket of fat still on my left arm. This is something I'm revisiting with Dr. Taranow in the coming months. I'm confident he can help me achieve the look I desire and revise the work I had done. While my old surgeon's educational background was impressive (Harvard and Hopkins trained,) he wasn't board certified like Dr. Taranow, and the results didn't reflect his background. I later learned my old surgeon used his time in school as part of his "years of experience" in practice. Basically he was fresh out of school and more of a facelift guy. This is why it's so important to do your research. I learned the hard way but I found Dr. Taranow in the aftermath so it's ok!I'll continue to update this as time progresses, but I couldn't wait because of the stellar care and experience I received from Dr. Taranow and his office staff. As an incentive for posting a review, this reviewer received an entry into RealSelf’s monthly $500 gift card giveaway. Updated on 28 Apr 2023: Today I’m exactly 10 days postop. I had my stitches removed yesterday. Dr. Taranow is the best. I’m very satisfied with my experience and my results. At this point, a lot of the swelling has subsided and I’ve been trying on some jeans to see how they fit. It’s easier to move around today than yesterday. It seems from days 8-10 I had a significant improvement with mobility and less discomfort compared to week 1. I am very happy with the improvement of my contour! I can wear jeans I haven’t worn in years bc of the excess fat in the lower abdomen and fupa area. I had one pair in particular that just didn’t fit or look right because of the excess fat. Now they look and feel great on me and I can’t wait to wear them without the ab board and compression garment in the future. I’m finally “bulge free” around the lower abdomen!! I still had significant swelling in the mons pubis area but I’ve noticed the swelling has gone down significantly after changing my compression garment to one that has more support in the pubic area. The size and swelling of the mons pubis is now slowly decreasing with proper compression. I still have some overall soreness from he lipo 360, however, I am no longer taking any sort of pain medication. The pain is more of a dull soreness that is completely tolerable without meds. To put that in perspective, I have a very low threshold for pain. I’d say my pain is a 1 out of 5 just from slight discomfort, but totally manageable in every sense of the word. I have left over meds, but I’ll probably be throwing that out today because it’s just not necessary anymore. My sides look dramatically slimmed down and I can now fit into a small/medium in some shirts. In my next update I’ll provide measurements with healing progression pics so you have an idea of what to expect. #review500 Updated on 28 Apr 2023: The first image is before I had Lipo 360. The image is from just over a year ago. Photo on the right is of my present results 10 days postop lipo360 revision with Dr. Taranow.
I'm so glad I did this and so glad I found Dr. Taranow. I had liposuction performed on my calves/ankles, knees, and inner thighs and a fat transfer to my breasts. Calves and ankles are a challenging area that not many doctors will do and often the ones that "specialize" in it charge outlandish prices, even for a consultation. I chose Dr. Taranow because he was honest, didn't try to oversell me on expectations (if anything he undersold), has almost 30 years of experience specifically with liposuction and fat transfer, took a full hour during my (free) consultation with him to talk everything over, and even took additional time to talk with me over the phone when I had more questions later. He estimated that he'd be able to get a small to modest amount of fat from my legs and transfer about 150cc to each breast, but I was shocked when after my procedure they told me he had managed to get 1900cc (almost 2 liters!) from my legs and transfer 250cc to each breast. 250cc per breast might not sound like that much, but it took me from a deflated 34 inch bust to a full 37 inches. Healing has been much easier than I anticipated, but ymmv of course. The first week is obviously the worst, but definitely still manageable. I was able to get up and walk around even on day one. It is now just over a month since my procedure and my legs continue to look more amazing by the day. I can see my calf muscles now! I was prepared to see a large portion of the fat transfer diminish, but remarkably I'm still measuring at 36.5" and seem to have retained almost all of it. Dr. T told me that at this point the bulk of the swelling has likely receded and while I might see some slight changes in the next few months, what I see now will be very close to where I end up. I'm so happy with my results, I feel so much more proportionate and everything looks so natural! Updated on 22 May 2023: figured i'd provide a 3 months update. I've definitely lost some volume in my breasts, mostly from the upper pole area. Still measuring 36" though and looking significantly better than before. I might want to do some small tweaks to my knees, but overall I'm still really happy with my choice and with the outcome of my procedure. I feel comfortable wearing shorts, which is kind of a miracle for me.
I just had my Tummy tuck and lipo surgery on 3/10/2023. During the surgery Dr. Taranow found that I had a lot of scared tissue that could affect the blood flow to my belly button. He knew actually what to do. Dr. Taranow Is amazing. It's situations like this that you should make sure that the doctor is board certified. You never know what the doctor will encounter during your procedure. He takes the time to do his own consultations, he explains the procedure and what you can expect. He explains what is realistic for your body type. He is not trying to sell an unrealistic dream from a picture you saw. He doesn't try to convince you to choose him for your surgeon. He answers your questions and gives you the facts. He is calm and knowledgeable and very relatable. I did not think it was possible for me to feel good about my body at this age. But he showed me that it is possible. After having 3 kids, I feel restored, happy, more confident. I know this great doctor could not be possible without his great staff. There is not enough space to tell you how they assisted me through this process. Iris, Beatrice they are wonderful. My job was being a little difficult but they presented the requested paperwork like professionals. My results are amazing and I will try to upload pictures when my swelling goes down.
Dr. Taranow did an absolutely amazing job! I’ve always been very insecure about my neck and chin fat but now I’ve got my confidence back! So glad I’ve chose him to be my surgeon, I have no regrets! I’m currently 5 days post-op, immediately after surgery I’ve noticed a drastic improvement in my appearance! I was very nervous as this is my very first procedure however Dr. Taranow and his team made the experience smooth and quick! Can’t wait to see the final results !!
F/25/5'9/165lbs - Transaxillary submuscular silicone implants, moderate plus profile, 370 ccs Hi everyone! I've had pretty small breasts my entire early adulthood. Several years ago, I was about 50 pounds heavier at my highest weight, and since losing weight my breasts shrunk into a very small 36A cup with mild tuberous formation. After years of insecurity and wanting to have my boobs done, i finally bit the bullet and decided to schedule a consult. I had my first and only consultation with Dr. Douglas Taranow in January 2023. After reviewing his amazing work on other patients and meeting him in person, I knew that Dr. T was the right surgeon to help me achieve my goals. I wanted larger, fuller, but still natural looking breasts, with a goal of moving into a full C cup. Dr. T set realistic expectations for how I could be helped. Just a few days after meeting Dr. T, I made my deposit and scheduled a surgery date of March 2nd. Day 1: 3/2/23 Today was the day! I went in at 7:15am and got prepped for my 8am surgery. It took about an hour and 15 minutes and I was on my way home by 10:30am. I'm wrapped up in my surgical bra as we speak and I can already tell I'm going to be really happy with the results. I'm feeling some tightness and a little soreness, but overall, the discomfort is not as bad as I anticipated (thank you extended release novocaine). Throughout the day, my prescribed pain meds and Tylenol kept me pretty comfortable and I was able to walk around easily. Pain is concentrated mostly just in the sternum area and a bit under my underarms, and pain levels hovered around a 2/10-4/10 for the duration of the day. Day 2: 3/3/23 6AM: Whoa. Stiffness and pain is getting more intense. About 5 hours after taking my last Oxy the night before, my chest is SORE. Pain is at about a 7/10. 2pm: I've been taking my pain meds more frequently than yesterday and it's helping keep my pain at bay. I had a sneak peek at them for a minute today and it's so crazy having boobs finally! Bruising is pretty significant under my arms and breasts. Excited to be feeling less sore hopefully very soon Updated on 6 Mar 2023: So far so good with healing! Yesterday was the last day of taking my painkillers and today has been just ibuprofen and Tylenol. I’m not in too much pain, but it’s generally uncomfortable to move around so I opted to work from home today and probably will do the same tomorrow. Some physical updates: - my boobs themselves aren’t as sore anymore; not much stinging or shooting nerve pain - underarms are VERY sore and tight; hard to move my arms up at all and feels like my arms are pinned to my ribs - it’s difficult to sit or stand up straight, feels really tight in my chest when I straighten up - bruising has turned more yellow/brown - breasts are marginally less rock-hard and have a little more squish to them - having lots of headaches and am tired most of the day Also, I’m super eager to be cleared to do some light exercise. It’s been hard being so sentient, but I know it’s necessary for healing. Overall I’m happy with how they’re progressing. I can’t wait for the underarm pain to ease up and am so ready to take this tape off. Post-op appointment is in 2 days so I look forward to that :) Updated on 8 Mar 2023: Y’all I am falling in looove with these results. I’m so obsessed. Felt pretty good today and went back to work in the office. Moving around all day has me wiped out, but the pain is really easing up and I’m just a little sore under my arms. One of my stitches has dissolved and is already flattening out; the other side is taking its time but still healing well. I also had my one week checkup with Dr. Taranow today and he validated that my implants were settling in beautifully! We put fresh tape and scheduled my next follow up where I’ll learn the massage techniques. I just want to say, I could not be happier with my decision to go with Dr. Taranow. Throughout this past week he’s been available 24/7 and called me over the weekend to check in, texted me on Sunday to see how I was doing, and has just been an outstanding, reliable doctor. His entire team has been so wonderful, friendly and personable. I left my check up appointment with a beautiful bouquet of roses from the team which was SO sweet. I really can’t say enough good things about Dr. T and his practice. HIGHLY recommend him and his team. Updated on 14 Mar 2023: Feeling great so far in my healing journey! Tomorrow I meet with my doctor to remove my second tape and get in tune with the massaging techniques. Healing wise, the underarms aren’t so sore anymore and it’s mostly just some tenderness in the boobies here and there. My right is definitely dropping a little faster, but they’re both settling beautifully. These gals are making me so excited for summer clothes hahahah Updated on 19 Apr 2023: Time flies. I’ve healed up nicely and boobies are looking and feeling good. My left one is finally dropping into place and my chest looks really even. I think the only strange thing I’ve realized is my left nip lost some sensation; it responds to touch but not to temperature. So a cold breeze only gives me one headlight, which is weird. It’s about a 1 inch radius around my left nip that has this perpetual numbness. I can put an ice pack on it and just… no response. Strange, but not a huge deal for me personally. I’ve heard of scenarios where nip feeling returns after a couple of months, so maybe I’ll get lucky. Overall, still super happy with my results and my decision, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I did gain a few pounds during my no exercise period so I’m working overtime to reverse that before summer but once again, the results are 100% worth the minor setbacks. :)
First, you should see your private physician to see why you are anemic. If low Iron, then either iron pills with Vitamin C will help or even Iron injections work very well. I personally do not have issues with a healthy individual having a mommy makeover with a starting hemoglobin of 10.4. But I always start my patients on iron and vitamin C pre-op when anemic. Best wishes, Dr. Taranow
I start by using the shortest scar possible. I try not to extend it laterally as this is the most common area for hypertrophic or keloid scars to form. Next, I use intradermal sutures (this avoids the needle holes that go on the outside of the skin on either side of the incision. Lastly, I use paper tape for a few weeks till totally closed and then switch to 3M silicone tape which I continue for several months. If you start to see the scar thickening, go see your surgeon ASAP to have steroids injected. They work best when used early. Best wishes, Dr. Taranow
First, we really need proper photos of your abdomen: naked from pubis to just below breast crease, anterior and side views. A last picture with you leaning over 90 degrees taken from the side as well. This will answer if further liposuction (which I doubt is an option) vs an abdominoplasty is necessary. Dr. Taranow
While 405 is a good size, it really depends on what you want to look like. I have patients bring me 'wish pics' of naked breasts. Then I order several sizes and use a sizer during the procedure to make sure I use the correct size. Many times, the rib anatomy is different and a larger implant was required to obtain the correct results. You may be able to increase by 30-50cc's. Best wishes, Dr. Taranow
You look great now, but if larger breasts are desired, a breast augmentation would solve this issue. You belly also looks good, but you have some extra skin and a little fat. I have to offer an abdominoplasty in someone with your abdomen, but it appears you have loose skin above AND below the belly button which makes you a candidate for the tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) Best wishes, Dr. Taranow
