Hi valeeria1,Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about sagging skin following neck liposuction, particularly at the age of 59. It's important to note that without seeing photos, it is challenging to provide a precise answer. However, based on your description, a neck lift might be the most suitable option for addressing the sagging skin.As we age, our skin naturally loses elasticity, and procedures like liposuction can sometimes exacerbate the appearance of loose skin, especially in areas like the neck. A neck lift, or lower rhytidectomy, is designed to address these concerns. This procedure typically involves removing excess skin, tightening underlying tissues, and improving the contour of the jawline and neck. It can significantly reduce the appearance of sagging and create a more youthful and refreshed neck profile. Each individual's situation is unique, and the best approach depends on various factors, including the extent of sagging, skin quality, and overall health. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can assess your specific case. During the consultation, the surgeon can provide personalized recommendations and discuss the potential outcomes and benefits of a neck lift or any other suitable procedures.Remember, the key to successful cosmetic surgery lies in a tailored approach that considers all aspects of your individual needs and goals.Sincerely,Dr. Katzen
Hi there! Neck liposuction without skin tightening/excision isn't the best idea for anyone above the age of 40 (ish). It's very unlikely for the skin to retract after removing the tissue beneath. You should consider a neck lift or lower facelift to correct and reposition the tissues in a natural, youthful manner.
As we get older, we lose elasticity in our skin. Having liposuction alone, without any energy-based devices used, in patients (generally over 40, as a rule of thumb) tends to leave skin laxity. Depending on the amount of laxity, you may have a couple options.Less invasive options such as RF-microneedling may suffice.Next level up treatment may include energy such as lasers or plasma to tighten the skin.If there is too much laxity, then a formal neck lift may be required.
Ok well obviously an in person visit is optimal, however I would tell you that first off, let things heal and soften to make decisions. If you want to optimize while healing, then consider Morpheus treatments that deliver radiofrequency energy through microneedles. Ellacor is also an alternative with tiny cores of skin being removed; generally more effective in the face, but I have been treating almost every face with a neck as well and have been happy with with what I'm seeing. If there is still a lot of loose skin, then a necklift may be required. Best Wishes!!
Hello, hope you are well. If the problem is visibly hanging skin, the most straightforward treatment option is probably a lower face- and neck lift. This involves making well-concealed incisions under the chin and around the ears.Best,Dr. Tower
Surgically lifting your loose drooping redundant folds and/or wrinkled neck skin for a smoother tighter contour by neck lift surgery is the best solution. Well done neck lift is demanding of surgeons. Few are really good at it and many who are able to do it don't want to work that hard. Liposuction, Renuvion, Microneedling, Ellacor, Morpheus, Thermi, Kybella, Botox, and other short cuts are popular, but cannot come close to the dramatic improvement offered by masterfully planned and performed neck lift.
Without appropriate photos one can only give you general answer; skin laxity most likely require excision by means of lower face/neck lift. Some other options may be available depending of individual presentation, like extended posterior neck lift. In person consultation or at least teleconference, i with an expert in face/neck rejuvenation would help in that regard. Good luck.
Lower facelift and neckliftIt is important to understand that the incisions used for achieving a good result in a necklift also give a nice lift to the lower face and jowls. The purpose of a necklift is to pull the extra skin side ways behind the ears and remove it. It is also sometimes combined with Neck Liposuction and Platysmaplasty. The incision starts in the hair tuft in front of the ear and then curves in front of the ear hidden in natural curves of the ear, then next to the earlobe it goes behind the ear in the hidden groove and finally is taken over to the hairline of the neck. The skin is then lifted to expose the underlying platysma muscle. It is then pulled back and tethered to the bone behind the ear. At this point the jowl area is also pulled back with stitches under the skin in deeper tissues. These maneuvers lead to excess skin on the sides which is then trimmed and stitched back in place. Regards Dr. J
Thank you for your question! With a mini-lift, only the lower face-- from cheek to chin-- is lifted, which effectively eliminates jowls and redefines the cheekbones. As with a face-lift, the mini- lift is often accompanied by a neck lift, which removes fat from below the chin and tightens the neck's platysma muscles, all though a tiny incision under the chin. The best candidates for the mini-lift are those who are unhappy with the contour of their lower face and neck, and whose skin has good resiliency. You might also be a candidate for a non-invasive procedure called Thermage that can tighten skin and stimulate your body to make healthier collagen—the building block that provides structure to your skin. The procedure uses radiofrequency technology called ThermaCool® that has been clinically proven to tighten and lift skin. Fast and easy, Thermage requires no downtime from normal activities. Another treatment that helps smooth and tighten skin is micro-RF. Used in combination with Thermage and non-ablative lasers, this can be a powerful nonsurgical treatment to help tighten and smooth skin all over the body. My office also has an innovative skin treatment which uses a combination of microdermabrasion and various laser treatments to help improve skin quality and appearance. I have also created skincare products that scientifically help improve quality of your skin. I suggest making an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options in more detail!
At age 59, you're going to have loose and inelastic skin in the neck made worse by liposuction alone. A lower face and neck lift procedure is required to tighten loose facial and neck skin in addition to tightening loose facial and neck muscles.

Firstly, a stand-alone neck lift procedure is typically performed when someone wants to address sagging or excess skin, muscle laxity, or excess fat specifically in the neck area without addressing other areas of the face. It's often done for patients who have significant aging in the neck but...
