Dear Doctors, with this overflow of informations we can find on the internet, I'd like to know if there is really a liposuction technique that is more PRECISE than the another one ? I know it really depends of the surgeons, but for example when you look at some websites, it sounds like if some are THE MOST PRECISE TECHNIQUE on the market (vaser...) and I wanted to know if there is really a technique that allow the surgeons to get more precision ? Thanks in advance !
It's certainly understandable how someone could be confused by all of the different liposuction techniques available today. There is so much information and marketing about liposuction, VASER, SmartLipo and other techniques, it can be very confusing. The bottom line is that these techniques may offer advantages for certain individuals. Nonetheless, the most precise liposuction technique is done by the most precise surgeon. End of story. This is the absolute most important factor, so chose your surgeon wisely. An experienced Plastic Surgeon can discuss the different techniques available and recommend which one will work best for you.
Online I keep finding info about women who had liposuction. Thats fine, but I would be very interested in doing something about my love handles and stomach roll. Is it common to do male liposuction to improve body contours? Are the risks of liposuction for men the same as for women?
Although men tend to talk about liposuction less than women, nearly half of my liposuction patients are men. The most common areas for liposuction for men are the "love handles" on the side of the abdomen and the central abdomen. Frequently liposuction techniques can be used for male breast reduction surgery as well in the neck under the chin. The results can be dramatic and offer very high patient satisfaction under the correct circumstances. Meeting with a Plastic Surgeon can best help you determine if you might be a good candidate for male liposuction.
I had my saddlebags removed six weeks ago and one of them looks lumpy and looks like if I have something in there that moves. I also had liposuction above my butt, I'm still numb and I now I have a lump. Will this go away? How long does it take for swelling to go away?
It is very common to have swelling and even some bumpiness during the recovery period after liposuction. I tell my patients that most of the swelling resolves within the first month after the procedure - frequently much sooner. You should be back to normal activity and overall looking good around this time. Nonetheless the final result often takes 6 months or even longer, as the swelling, minor bumpiness, and skin tightening take some time.
