Its been 3 months since my smart lipo. My thighs and arms have odd dentations and waves. The skin on my thighs never contracted and looks worse than before; i think because of the loose skin. Is there anything I can do for the thighs? I am satisfied with the arms other than the dents.
The problem is that unless the surgeon does very little with the SmartLipo, the result may be irregular, because the laser damages tissue and causes scarring.
This is difficult to correct. it may need very careful regular liposuction and possibly fat grafting.
I just had tumescent Smart Lipo done on my abdomen and a male breast reduction. The doctor suctioned out the liquefied fat after using the laser. If the excess fat was not suctioned out, what happens?
I definitely believe that in most cases suctioning the fat out after Smartlipo achieves much better results. Only in cases where very minor contouring is performed do I consider not performing suctioning of the fat with Smartlipo.
I had Smart Lipo done on my abs and the Dr is going to go ahead and fix it but I was wondering whats an appropriate amount of time to wait before I get it redone? I had my surgery July 28 and my revision surgery is set for Oct 6. Is that too soon?
Many plastic surgeons are moving away from Smartlipo and other laser liposuction techniques nationally. At a recent plastic surgery meeting that I attended one of the presenting surgeons said that his office often gets calls from patients asking if he does Smartlipo. Their standard answer is no, but they can try to fix it.
The problem is that the laser energy causes increased scarring and tethering of the tissues, that may make it very difficult to revise. Fat grafting may be needed to repair deficient areas. Standard liposuction techniques without heat or other physical modalities causes less damage to the tissues.
