Has Skin Gotten Used to Jessner Peel?

I had a Jesner's peel done and had no results however I have had this procedure done 3 times before with excellent results! Does your skin get used to a peel after so many applications? I only did it once a year.

A: Chemical peeling very dependent on the technique used

I'm not sure that your skin has adapted to the Jessner's peel.  Rather, it could be that the technique was different this time.  One of the most important steps in chemical peeling is the degreasing step before the chemical is even applied.  If this is not done correctly, the peel will not absorb well.

Patients respond differently to different chemicals, so peeling is certainly an art.  I like to begin light peels with patients before stepping up to heavier ones.  If you didn't experience a peel, you should speak with your physician about trying again.  I personally don't charge for a second peel if the patient didn't experience peeling the first time around.

Jessner or TCA Peel for Red, Shallow Acne Scars?

What peel is better for red shallow acne scars Jessner peel or TCA peel? The scars left behind are "fresh" and still reddish. To reduce the inflammation, I was prescribed Desonide Lotion 0.05.I used it for about 2 weeks but after a while the redness returned.

A: Acne scarring takes more than chemical peeling

Unfortunately, I wouldn't expect either Jessners or TCA peeling to do much for your acne scarring. These peels are both light peels that only remove the epidermal layer... they don't go deep enough to affect scarring or the facial contour. When used in combination, they create a medium depth peel that goes deeper, but still doesn't help much with acne scarring.

Acne scars are successfully improved by many different modalities, depending on the type, location, depth, and age of the scar. Fractional laser resurfacing is likely to give you the best improvement in the scenario you described, but you really need to be evaluated in person to confirm that. I would, however, forego a TCA or Jessners peel. These can be great peels, but not for acne scarring.
