What differences would I find between a mini tummy tuck versus a total tummy tuck? Would a Mini Tummy Tuck Remove That Skin Completely?
Different plastic surgeons use the term "mini tummy tuck" to mean diffrent operations. Whereas a full tummy tuck generally means the same thing to all, a mini does not. In my vernacular, a mini tummy tuck means a procedure in which I remove (through a standard tummy tuck incision) only the amount of skin and fat that will allow me to directly close the wound without any significant undermining. A full tummy tuck does involve a lot of underming and results, as pointed out by Dr. Rand, removal of essentially all skin/fat up to and including the belly button.
Hi doctors. thakn you so very much for all your great information about tummy tucks. i can't seem to find how much a mini tummy tuck typically costs a patient. Can you give a range for this procedure price?
A mini-TT in my office costs about $300-500 less than a full Tummy Tuck. In addition, I usually perform the Mini-TT as an outpatient and usually admit full TT patients for at least 1 night. This also lowers the total cost.
I had three pregnancies, the last being twins. I weigh 144 pounds and I'm 169cm tall. I am considering a Tummy Tuck and my surgeon suggests a Mini tummy tuck with a float belly button, as I have minimum loose skin above the belly button. He will do Liposuction above and below the belly button and the sides. Do you think this will give me a better result?
A full abdominoplasty will usually lead to a better result than a mini. There are more risks and down time with the full procedure. Many of my patients choose the mini, however, and are very pleased with results. The pros and cons of each should be discussed with your plastic surgeon.
