Where to Get a Phenol Peel?

Where can I get Phenol peel? I have sun damage on my arms and tried many treatments but no good results.

A: Phenol Peel

The popularity of a phenol peel has dramitically decreased due to the intense post peel care that is required. In its place, croton oil peels have seen a rise in interest. However, the vast majority of peels are now accomplished with laser or IPL  techniques.

Risks of Phenol Peel on Neck and Chest?

I had a Phenol Peel eight years ago and was very pleased with the results. I want to undergo another to tighten the skin on my face and neck, improve the texture of the skin on my neck and rid my face of some wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

I have been reading conflicting opinions on the safety of a phenol oil peel on the neck and chest. I don't remember being concerned about it when I had my original one done.

A: Healing of the neck after a chemical peel or laser treatment

The ability to heal after a peel resides on the reservoir of cells that remain in the deeper structures of the skin such as the sweat or oil glands or hair follicles; these are collectively called the adnexal structures. Skin that has more of these strutcures heals quickly after a resurfacing procedure. Skin that has fewer of these structures heals more slowly. Delayed healing can result in hypertrophic scarring.

The skin of the neck specifically has very few adnexal structures.

Alternatives to Deep Chemical Peels?

Mydermatologist said some of my acne scars are deep, and I will need a deep peel for them. Are there other successful, more cost-effective alternatives to a deep chemical peel?

A: Combination of Fraxel Laser with Obagi Newderm system for acne scarring

Preparingthe skin with Obagi Newderm system with Tretinoin prior to Fraxel laser procedure and in between treatments with proper spacing produces great results for acne scarring. It is safer than deep chemical peels as well as more predictible, healing is quick too.
