Why are surgeons here in North America not doing concept facelifts?

Hello,It is not uncommon there for doctors brand their own facelifts. There are also companies that market facelifts and outsource the work to surgeons that sign up for this service (ie lead generation for doctors performed by companies that are really good at marketing). These procedures may be less expensive because only local anesthetic is provided or the surgery not performed in an operating room.Not all patients need a full face lift, in which case they may be candidates for something like a mini lift, s lift or modified full face lift. Many surgeons in Canada offer these surgeries, but probably don't have marketing names for them.Patients who do need a full facelift will often find that surgeons say no to performing smaller lifts. They do this because a patient who needs a full face lift would be disappointed with the results of a smaller lift. Be careful to be swayed by flashy advertising and people who claim they have the latest and greatest thing that no one else is doing. Plastic surgeons in the United States perform a variety of facelifts from small to large.There is no "one" facelift for all folks.  The procedure is individualized depending on sun damage, skin tone, previous weight loss, and bone structure.Dr Stephenson published on article on the "new/old" mini-lift in 1971.See link below:

 The purpose of a lower face and neck lift is to lift the jowls, tighten loose facial and neck skin, tighten loose facial and neck muscles, and remove fatty deposits above and below the platysma muscle in the neck. It's very important to have this done so that  you look refreshed and natural. Concept facelift sounds like a marketing gimmick For many examples of a high- SMAS traditional face/ neck lift, please see the link and the video below

Hello Chefidel,I would agree with the other respondents that names provided for procedures are a marketing ploy.  They are helpful for marketing because you can then relate that procedure to that one surgeon, because he has patented the name.  I can't speak for the others although I imagine they do as well, but I customize my treatment to the individual patient.  This may involve treating the neck, jowls, and cheeks, maybe just the neck, possibly elevating the brows, liposuction or fat transfer, skin resurfacing, etc.  I don't give a specific name to my procedures because each one is unique as opposed to a cookie cutter approach to facial rejuvenation.  The procedures that have names are just variations of the same techniques used by others.  If you are considering a lifting procedure, I'd recommend you consult with a facial plastic surgeon or a plastic surgeon who does a lot of face work as well.  I hope this helps and good luck.  

As Shakespeare said "what is in a name?" Many names are given for a marketing reason. Facelifts are like snowflakes-no two are alike. Whether you call it a snowflake for crystallized water does not change the character. Every facelift should be customized to a patient's needs. Some may involve more superficial tightening, deep tightening, fat removal, etc. For this reason you should go to a board-certified plastic surgeon has the capability of doing a variety of different procedures customised to your needs.

I am not familiar with this procedure so I researched it to help answer your question accurately. The way your questioned is posed suggests that surgeons perform larger procedures in order to charge more irrespective of need. Nothing can be further from the truth in my practice and experience. A Concept facelift is a facelift with typical undermining of flaps, elevation of the SMAS layer through one of several techniques and re-draping of the skin. This can be done with local or general anesthesia which is the preference of the surgeon and patient. The incisions tend to be more limited along the lines of a short scar facelift.Despite the novel name there is nothing new in this procedure.
