I really don’t want a tummy tuck, I just want lipo. Is that realistic? Major abdominal surgery sounds frightening and painful. Will I still have good results without a TT? Thank you.
Answer: Tummy tuck You appear to be a good candidate for a full abdominoplasty. Lipo alone will not deal with your loose skin and will likely make it worse. The surgery is very rewarding and worth the cost and recovery.

Answer: Full Tummy Tuck Hello and thank you for your question and photos. After reviewing your photo, I would recommend a full tummy tuck combined with liposuction. A full tummy tuck corrects the aftermath of pregnancy: 1. The separation of the abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) is repaired to reduce the bulge 2. The loose skin is tightened 3. Fat deposits can be reduced with liposuction Liposuction alone would not correct the bulge due to the muscle separation or the loose skin and would, in all likelihood, lead to a disappointing result for you. A tummy tuck combine with liposuction would give the best result in terms of flattening and tightening the tummy, but has the disadvantage of scarring and a longer recovery. I would recommend a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Best regards, Andrew Lyos MD, FACS

Answer: Full tummy tuck You are a candidate for a full tummy tuck and muscle repair. I believe liposuction alone may leave your skin looking worse because of the laxity you are starting with. I would schedule an appointment with your surgeon so you can get more details on what will give you the best result and to make sure your expectations are met. Best of luck! Dr. B

Answer: Is liposuction enough for my stomach or would I need a tummy tuck too? A liposuction will still leave you with a protuberant abdomen and over-lapping skin in your lower abdomen. I highly suggest having the full TT with rectus muscle diastasis repair. Of course, photos are not as good as a personal examination, but based on your photos, that is my opinion. To reduce the post-operative discomfort and for a faster recovery time, I recommend requesting the drainless (no drains) tummy tuck. You will not be encumbered with drains for 5-10 days, and the complication rate is less as well. The drainless TT does require a special suturing technique called Progressive Tension sutures, which most plastic surgeons understand. Have your plastic surgeon inject Exparel during the procedure. This is an anesthetic that lasts for 48 hours and makes an enormous difference in the early recovery and discomfort reduction. Thank you for your question and photos, and good luck. Go for the TT. Patients are elated with the procedure.

Answer: Tummy tuck Hi there, you look to be a great candidate for a tummy tuck procedure. Liposuction will reduce you a little bit but you will still have the extra skin. A tummy tuck will remove the extra skin, tighten the abdominal wall muscles and get you as flat as we possibly can. I would recommend an in office consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to be evaluated. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Liposuction vs. Tummy Tuck Thank you for sharing your photos. Based on the photos you have shared, you seem to be a candidate for liposuction and a tummy tuck, as liposuction alone will not address the loose skin or diastasis recti you appear to have. Liposuction alone cannot address either of these concerns. My patients are extremely happy with their tummy tuck results and my meticulous attention to detail when it comes to scarring, which is hidden very cautiously in your underwear/bikini line. Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon regarding this matter before you decide to move forward with liposuction alone.
